"Marvel vs. Capcom Origins"

In the lead up to “Marvel vs. Capcom Origins,” coming September 25 to PlayStation Network and September 26 to Xbox Live Arcade, Marvel.com (along with our pals at Capcom Unity) thought it'd be fun to run through the roster and highlight each of the characters from both” Marvel Super Heroes” and the original “Marvel vs. Capcom,” meaning we've got a lot of ground to cover.

We’ll give you their full stats along with where they were during the time they appeared in “Marvel Super Heroes” (1995) and “Marvel vs. Capcom” (1999). You can catch new profiles on the Marvel characters right here every Tuesday and Friday, and Capcom has its own write up right here.

Blackheart

BLACKHEART

First Appearance: DAREDEVIL #270

“MvC Origins” Appearances: Playable character in “Marvel Super Heroes”

Bio: Created from the pure evil that accumulated in a little town called Christ’s Crown, Blackheart remains one of the most deadly supernatural threats the world has ever known, and a constant thorn in his “father” Mephisto’s side. A master of malevolent manipulation, Blackheart has attempted to sway the Earth’s mightiest protectors to the darkness. Daredevil, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the Punisher, no hero is safe from the demon’s dark touch. Luckily the ageless fiend spends most of his time attempting to overthrow Mephisto and take Hell for himself. Heaven help us all should he ever succeed.

Where He Was in 1995: In GHOST RIDERS: CROSSROADS #1 Blackheart hatches a plot to steal the power of the Ghost Rider for himself. Fueled by the power of the Spirit of Vengeance Blackheart would have enough mystical juice to transport his hordes to this dimension and raze it to the ground--not good news for any of us mere mortals.

Shuma-Gorath

SHUMA-GORATH

First Appearance: MARVEL PREMIERE #10

“MvC Origins” Appearances: Playable character in “Marvel Super Heroes”

Bio: A being of unimaginable power, Shuma-Gorath seeks nothing less than the complete subjugation of Earth and her people. Through the eons the infernal creature tore holes in the very fabric of reality to reach this dimension, only to be beaten back by the world’s most formidable sorcerers. Doctor Strange and his master, the Ancient One, both battled the beast of chaos and sent him packing, and the Avengers helped kick him back to his horrible home on at least one occasion. Facing defeat after bitter defeat might discourage you or me, but Shuma-Gorath is practically immortal. Time is on his side.

Where He Was in 1995: Shuma was undoubtedly plotting his return to ravage this dimension, but was likely still nursing his wounds from his last jaunt to Earth, thanks in large part to Doctor Strange.

I want to see more of Shuma-gorath. I am all for cosmic, immortal characters rather than small time mortals.
