"Marvel vs. Capcom Origins"

In the lead up to “Marvel vs. Capcom Origins,” coming September 25 to PlayStation Network and September 26 to Xbox Live Arcade, Marvel.com (along with our pals at Capcom Unity) thought it'd be fun to run through the roster and highlight each of the characters from both” Marvel Super Heroes” and the original “Marvel vs. Capcom,” meaning we've got a lot of ground to cover.

We’ll give you their full stats along with where they were during the time they appeared in “Marvel Super Heroes” (1995) and “Marvel vs. Capcom” (1999). You can catch new profiles on the Marvel characters right here every Tuesday and Friday, and Capcom has its own write up right here.

Onslaught

ONSLAUGHT

First Appearance: X-MAN #15

“MvC Origins” Appearances: Unplayable boss character in “Marvel vs. Capcom”

Bio: Literally the brainchild of Charles Xavier and Magneto, an amalgamation of the two former-friends’ psionic energies, Onslaught sought to control the Marvel Universe. With the combined abilities of Xavier, Magneto, the X-Man Nate Grey, and the reality warping powers of Franklin Richards, the fiend almost succeeded. It took a herculean effort by Earth’s most powerful heroes--the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Spider-Man--to put a stop to Onslaught’s madness, and even then many of the righteous defenders were lost to the world for a time. Eventually they made their way back to this dimension, but if they could come back, could Onslaught?

Where He Was in 1999: After his destruction at the hands of the heroes, Onslaught disappeared from the eyes of the world.

Sentinel

SENTINEL

First Appearance: X-MEN (1963) #14

“MvC Origins” Appearances: Assist character in “Marvel vs. Capcom”

Bio: Bolivar Trask created the first sentinels, massive hunks of mutant hating technology, to hunt down those with the X-Gene and terminate them. Where once sentinels resembled nothing more than large tin soldiers--albeit tin soldiers that could shoot lasers from their hands--with the advent of new technology and even more devious masters, Sentinels have evolved into some of the most efficient killing machines on the planet. If you carry the X, you might be next!

Where They Were in 1999: Known for their constant, unstoppable harassment of mutants, the mechanical killers took a break, undoubtedly upgrading their lethal weaponry for a later date.
