James Dore's father, James Dore Sr. had invented a special flying suit during World War II and became known as the American Eagle. The senior Dore passed on his wings to his son who carried on in his tradition. Blue Eagle became the third recruit into the Squadron Supreme. In the battle with the Redeemers, Lamprey drained the energy out of Blue Eagle's wings, and he fell face first into Pinball. The impact broke Blue Eagle's neck, killing him.
