Fled to Asteroid M seeking Magneto (X-Men #1, 1991); sacrificed life for Magneto (X-Men #3, 1991)

As one of the founding members of the Acolytes of Magneto, Chrome was aboard Asteroid M as it plummeted towards Earth. In an effort to sheild Magneto from harm, Chrome used his powerful abilities to encase his leader in a protective shell. This act saved Magneto's life when the asteroid crashed in the Middle East. Chrome, however, could not act in time to save himself or the other Acolytes. Chrome was the very definition of an Acolyte, devoting all of his time and dedication to the cause and even offering the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the works of his leader would go on.
