Samuel Fisk was the grandson of Wilson Fisk in the year 2099, whose father reminded him ever since he was ten years old that his grandfather, the Kingpin, bested Daredevil in a battle of wits, killing him. He was fed this guilt all his young life, until one day he decided to use the family fortune to fight crime by night, in the guise of his grandfather’s nemesis, Daredevil. During the day he maintained the legacy of the Kingpin, but at night he put on a suit to duplicate the 20th Century Daredevil’s powers, in an attempt to help relieve the pain and suffering that his family had caused the world, and continued to.

But this dual life put a strain on his immediate family, and his wife, Elaine, dissatisfied and concerned about the risks her husband took, began an affair. This continued until one night, after a stint as the Daredevil, Elaine left him, complaining that he was endangering himself and their nine-year-old son, Sebastian. While Sentinels patrolled the streets, there was sometimes very crime fighting to do as Daredevil, so the next night Samuel tracked down his wife instead. He discovered her affair and ran off, venting his anger on a passing Sentinel, destroying it. Then, after returning to his Kingpin guise, and with a near-broken hand, he confided his problem to a local bartender. When the bartender suggested he have her killed, he baulked, and explained that he would take care of it like a civilized person.

And so, Samuel Fisk, the new Kingpin of Crime, had his wife’s lover taken to Fisk Tower. There, Samuel met him, filled with growing guilt over his own criminal actions, and put a gun to the man’s head, then pulled the trigger.
