Initially unaware his mother was
Princess Python, Daniel idolized individuals like the
Punisher (Frank Castle), believing a hero would do anything necessary to ensure good prevailed; even if it meant taking lives. Daniel was crushed to discover his mother was an infamous super-villain, and he later blew up her car. Whether or not she was killed has yet to be revealed. When he and his
teammates stumbled across a group of thugs robbing a liquor store, he rationalized killing them because they were violent offenders and did not deserve to live. When the
Young Avengers confronted them, Daniel recognized
Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) from school and thought that might have helped him join their team, but once she realized Daniel knew her true identity, he was denied membership. Later, Hawkeye set up an elaborate ruse to ensure Daniel could not reveal her identity to anyone. When the Melter contacted
Norman Osborn, Executioner was on hand to back up
Osborn's Avengers as they set a trap for the Young Avengers. Sticking close to
Bullseye, Executioner wanted Hawkeye killed, but Bullseye was unsuccessful. After
Sentry (Robert Reynolds) was exiled by
Enchantress (Sylvie Lushton),
Wiccan and
Coat Of Arms, Executioner escaped with his teammates, telling Hawkeye they were not the Young Avengers' students but their masters.
