An extradmensional demon, Helleyes conquered a "Hell realm before targeting Earth. He created minions, his Haunts, placing them in Boston's Mason Manor, making it appear to be haunted. After confronting bounty hunter Simon Stroud, Michael Morbius arrived at the Manor, encountering one of Helleyes' Haunts impersonating Morbius' friend Martine Bancroft. It hypnotized Morbius into delving into its eye, actually a portal to another Dimension. There Morbius encountered Helleyes but escaped by jumping into another of his eyes. Entering yet another realm, Morbius found Stroud, who also had met the Haunts. The two confronted Helleyes and Morbius realized that the way back to Earth was through the demon's only eye that cast reflections. Morbius and Stroud dove into it and escaped Hell. Years later, after conquering even more dimensions, Helleyes returned to Earth. This line, however, the Defenders intervened and the Hulk quickly defeated him.
