Significant Issues
Origin, recruitment and confrontation with the Hulk only to come to the realization that Banner was not the source of his misfortunes at birth (World War Hulk: Gamma Corps #1-4, 2007); went from fugitive to Osborn's bounty hunter (Dark Reign: Made Men #1, 2009)

Born developmentally disabled, Timothy Wilkerson’s problems were attributed to the man-monster known as the Hulk when he rampaged through a Canadian facility where Timothy’s parents were visiting. His mother claimed that Timothy suffered a massive stroke while in the womb due to this encounter, but a visit from General John Ryker ensured Mr. and Mrs. Wilkerson that he could make all of Timothy’s problems disappear. Splicing Timothy’s DNA with that of the Hulk’s nemesis, the Leader, gave birth to the individual now known as Prodigy. After that, everyone around Timothy seemed to be developmentally disabled.

Prodigy became an integral part of Ryker’s Gamma Corps, but where he lacked in a physical confrontation, he more than made up for with his mental prowess. Using his gifts to create sophisticated weaponry, high-tech gadgets and even biological toxins, Prodigy proved to be the most valuable asset to the team. After all, if not for a poison he created to decrease the Hulk’s power level, Gamma Corps field leader, Grey, would not have been able to snap the Hulk’s neck and score a temporary win for his team. However, the Hulk’s power levels were increased to such an extent that he did recover and delivered defeat to Ryker and his team. Prodigy stayed part of the Gamma Corps even after they broke away from General Ryker, and found new enemies to strike at – the same heroes that sent Hulk away, the Illuminati. Prodigy also discovered that his birth defects were not caused by a Hulk encounter, but rather a heroin addiction his mother suffered from while she was pregnant.

Prodigy went underground, becoming a fugitive from justice, but remained with Gamma Corps. He constantly used his inventions to monitor the world for any signs of their new foes. In an unexpected turn of events, Prodigy could have sworn he was tracking Iron Man when in actuality he was tracing Norman Osborn in his Iron Patriot suit. The head of H.A.M.M.E.R. followed the source back to Gamma Corps' hideout and was greeted with much hostility. First wanting to talk, then having no recourse but to defend himself, Osborn soon found himself at the mercy of Prodigy's amazing gifts. On the verge of suffering a stroke, Osborn was permitted to speak, and a new chapter in the lives of the Corps began. Prodigy, and the others, were given a second chance at redemption by becoming soldiers for Osborn with a mission to hunt all super-humans Osborn classified as traitors.
