Ronald Rankin was a genetic researcher but not much is known about his experiments. However it has been hinted that he did work with Weapon X in some capacity related to Wolverine. His son, Calvin (Mimic), was accidentally exposed to one of his experiments which awakened his latent mutant abilities.
