Talk:Venom (Eddie Brock)

Venom entry begins thanks to heatstroke2008

Nice contriubtion heatstroke2008 - We'll be shifting this to Venom (Eddie Brock), to make room for Venom (Angelo Fortunato) and Venom (Mac Gargan).

Note a couple of formatting edits for future contributions (like the origin section)

venomspider123 says:Eddie is now anti venom and he is awesome and he's cool and i'm new here.

Regarding "Aliases"

SoldierX7 - good catch on the formatting of the Groups. An alias is another name besides the character's main codename. So in this case, "Venom" isn't an alias. Someone like Captain America could list "Nomad" as an alias. -MikeF, OHotMU

Mike - make sure to create a redirect and/or disambig page for this if you move it. - peter

Yep - I'm going to redirect "Venom" to this "Venom (Brock)" since Eddie is current history's main Venom. The other 2 Venoms will be "Venom (Fortunato)" and "Venom (Gargan)"...I'll do that now. -MF

Mac Gargan

I will be creating a profile for Mac Gargan (both as Venom and Scorpion) so could someone delete the Venom (Mac Gargan) stuff from this bio, I would appreciate it. Also, does Gargan, as Venom, have the same powers that the original Venom had? sononsj 14:09, 18 April 2006 (EDT)

Venom the Movie

Ever since the Secret Wars and Spidey brought the Symbiot back with him, I have been intrigued by the thought of the alien suit. I've been waiting for the movie ever since. The pseudo strands grabbing 6 or 7 thugs holding them in the air while Venom picks out which one to start with. The Secret Wars were before my time, however I've seen the comics and I've followed Venom for sometime. I liked the black suit on spidey as well. So, can anyone tell me if or when the movie will be coming?

Venom will be in the upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie. In the 90's ('92-'97, I think), there was talk of "the Spider-Man, Venom, ect." movies, but I don't think that it's likely after all this time. However, the Spider-Man movies were talked about, too, back then. They were made after all tihis time, so who knows... sononsj 23:01, 30 April 2006 (EDT)

The first guy is on to something about the secret war, what new(and different) way is the symbiote going to be introduced to Spider-Man. -marvels 12:42, 3 May 2006 (EDT)

I know; they could make like three or four movies just about his full origin, if they mostly stayed true to the comics. sononsj 00:50, 1 May 2006 (EDT)

Hey that would be great and it might explain why we are getting a small skinny Eddie Brock. -marvels 12:42, 3 May 2006 (EDT)

Hey, Angelo Fortunato was skinny, and look how big he got when he bonded with Venom--Spidey:Weapon X 23:27, 3 June 2006 (EDT)

I know that Angelo was smaller than Brock and that when the symbiote bonded with Angelo, it actually was larger. However I guess its just the looks of Brock. Brock was buff and for some reason it just seemed to add to the charater of Venom. He seemed to add strength by being his buff self, of course that strength would little or nothing. Heh, it's not just the size of the symbiote that counts, but just Brocks looks if you will.--Venomocity 11:17, 28 July 2006 (EDT)

Hey, Venom is the Greatest Character ever and should totaly be made in to a movie!!

You guys seem to not remember that the Venom clone and the original fused together. So there is more symbiote mass in the symbiote now than it was when it bonded with Brock. --Wezqu 11:20, 28 July 2006 (EDT)

Venom the Movie 2

I have another question, I'm the same guy that spoke about the Secret Wars. Sonosj, you obviously follow and know alot about the same things I do. Do you think that there will be a seperate Venom movie that might introduce Carnage? And another thing, I love your Bio. How did you setup that Bio? Thanx, Venomocity.--Venomocity 00:12, 1 May 2006 (EDT)

I doubt it, but it'd be really cool! I created my bio using the person template. sononsj 00:44, 1 May 2006 (EDT)

Spiderman 3

So I've done my research on the upcoming Spidey-3 and I see that Venom is to be in it. However, I don't quite agree with the pick of who plays him, Topher Grace. Dont get me wrong, I like Topher, I think he is hilarious, but he doesn't fit the Brock profile. Brock is a huge guy, I thought of him like a Vin Diesel with blonde hair. Am I wrong?--Venomocity 09:42, 2 May 2006 (EDT)

Read the Venom bio, he buffs up after Spider-Man gets him fired. -marvels 12:40, 3 May 2006 (EDT)

you know topher grace looks like tobey mqguire alought i wonder if that will fit some where but i still wonder what will venom look like in the movie and the green goblin and why whould eddie brock try to kill spidermanspiderman12901 15:26, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

Is it just me, or does anyone else want the white spider on Spidey's chest to go all the way around as in the comics with the black costume? From the previews, it looks like they just dunked the suit in black paint. I was hoping for a different look with a new costume like that in the comics. And if I'm not mistaken, the spider didn't look white either, it looked all black. Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?--Venomocity 13:28, 26 July 2006 (EDT)

Ya all they've done is change the suit from red and blue to all black. I was hoping to see the classic black and white suit to, but from what Ive seen theres not a stitch of white on the new costume, kinda weak if you ask me. - maximum/carnage

Its not the same suit but of course nobody sees the differences. --Wezqu 21:27, 26 July 2006 (EDT)

What are the differences? I've seen the previews and the posters, the suit looks the same as far as the pattern goes, but the threads are just black. At least that just from what I can tell.--Venomocity 13:38, 27 July 2006 (EDT)

Difference is in the spider logos. The front one is bigger and has curved upper legs. The back one isnt the old red spider like but white spider that also has curved upper legs. It also looks little biger. Otherwise it looks the same but quite frankly I like how it looks and why would the suit change it appearence to that kind its seen in the comics. If you people dont remember why the suit orginally took that form. It was because Spider-Man wanted it to look like that when it attached itself to him. Now because the Secret War part isnt happened Spider-Man never saw Spider-Woman's costume and never got the idea that he would want a costume like that. So the symbiote took the orginals look because of that. --Wezqu 15:31, 27 July 2006 (EDT)

That's actually a good point. I guess since in the movie the Secret Wars didn't happen then there wouldn't be the costume look as far as what he could compare it too and want it to look like. I guess thats where my sore spot lies anyway though. I just want so bad, for the movies to mimic the comics a little more instead of getting too far off beat. But all in all I have not been disappointed with the Spidey movies. Thus I'll just wait to see. I haven't seen what Eddie is going to look like with symbiote, has anyone else though?--Venomocity 11:08, 28 July 2006 (EDT)

There is one picture of Venom in the official site where its bonding with Eddie Brock in the church but you cant really say whatkind of look it will take. --Wezqu 11:17, 28 July 2006 (EDT)

Early reports had me kinda worried, at first they said Venom was goin to have a purple/blue tint in his costume like in the comics. When they realized that the tint was to only distinguish the black lines on his black costume they decided against it. I heard that while they previewed the longer teaser at Comic-Con they showed a lot of scenes with Venom in it and he is to look just like he did in the comics. They felt that being such a fan favourite of any spider-man fan he needed to be in this movie and not have any changes happen to him. - maximum/carnage

how did y'all look at the venom pics i didnt see them on the site --pickelteeth 23:06, 4 August 2006 (EDT)pickelteeth

I agree with all of you guy's about the suit. But one thing that pissed me off. Every one knows Venom for his long tounge, well in the third movie, they did'nt show it. Bull! --Adam

You're right, he never died. I was thinking of those stories in the early 90's in which Eddie/ the symbiote were presumed dead. sononsj 23:53, 9 May 2006 (EDT)

That's right he never died! But in the moive--well I guess they did't want to put Venom in anymore! That sucks! --Adam

your forgetting that dr.conners still has a peice of venom that peter gave him to examine and from what ive read on wiki any size symbiote can expand to match its host so there could be a new venom or they could play it off as carnage we will just have to wait and see

was there ever a time when venom wasnt considered evil like in the game marvel nemisis rise of the imperfics user venom90210

Not counting alternate realities, he hasn't really ever been a hero. But in his early days, he protected innocents using Punisher-like methods (in other words, kill the bad guy). But then he went psyco(er) and was totally evil. sononsj 19:04, 7 June 2006 (EDT)

Heh, funny thing. In the one issue of the "What if" series Punisher was the one that got the symbiote not Eddie Brock. He had hard time to control the symbiote, but in the end he got it under control. Wezqu 10:12, 8 June 2006 (GTM)

One Venom, Two Venom, Three Venom

There are currently three people who have taken the name Venom, and now all of them have articles for themselves. Me, or someone else, should probably take out the last part of the bio because they have no relation to Eddie Brock other than what-happened-after.--Spidey:Weapon X 23:25, 3 June 2006 (EDT)

Another 'There are three venoms' question

Maybe someone should make... not a category, but maybe a redirect page that says: There are three venoms, then links to each one (Venom (Eddie Brock), Venom (Angelo Fortunato), and Venom (Mac Gargan))--Spidey:Weapon X 23:29, 3 June 2006 (EDT) so it worked wit Ghost Rider and Captain and others User:Holo78

Venom's symbiote clone

I read some time ago that Venom's symbiote was cloned from piece of Venom's tongue and its roaming around some where. Has it never surface anywhere? Does anyone know? --Wezqu 20:14, 9 June 2006 (GTM)

I've never heard that and it might not be true. However, the clone might be the other symbiote that resurfaced in the 2003 Venom series. sononsj 20:01, 9 June 2006 (EDT)

Yeah, sononsj, thats the one. Venom lost a small piece of his tongue in a battle with the Fantastic Four, and that piece was sold on Ebay. Some people bought it and cloned/created a new Venom, and the clone/new Venom caused a lot of trouble. I read all of that in a review, so some of the information may be faulty, but I think thats what you're talking about.--Spidey:Weapon X 22:08, 9 June 2006 (EDT)

I know its true, because I read it on Official Handbook - Spider-Man 2004. It had just a small part in the end of the bio that some institute in canada cloned the symbiote from the part of the tongue and Venom tryed to get it back, but the institute was destroyed and the clone escaped in the chaos. I was just interested if there is more to the storty about it. --Wezqu 09:55, 10 June 2006 (GTM)

Oh, yeah. There's more to the story, all right- about 20 issues and 65 wasted dollars more. sononsj 10:59, 10 June 2006 (EDT)

It's very much true! I own the entire series and the tongue gets detatched in a fight with the F4, by the Human Torch. It's picked up by some loser then stolen by a secret orginization. Venom is then cloned and makes his way through Alaska, and even attatches itself to a wolf, Wolverine, and lastly onto the female protagonist. Eventually the clone gets to New York and fights the original Venom in a symbiotic showdown!!! The cloned Venom host had been using a special collar to control her symbiote and then as soon as it gets deactivated, her symbiote jumps rihgt her and combines with the original to create a Super-Venom. Who is so big that, before he leaving, smiles at Spider-Man, revealing his single tooth being bigger Spidey's entire body, and jumps out the window swinging away. Just after that scene on the last page, you see a mysterious man speaking into a mike and says "Mission accomplished." - SymbioteSentry

Venom event

I seem to remember a story that happened during the clone saga where Brock got rid of Venom temporarily, and Venom got angry and called a whole planet of symbiotes to invade Earth. Venom, Ben Reilly and Spider-Man stopped them, and there was a really big Carnage who came and started absorbing all the symbiotes, and then Venom blah de blah blah blah. Does anyone remember this story? I think I have the issues, but I can't find them.--Spidey:Weapon X 11:29, 12 June 2006 (EDT)

That story was in the Spider-Man Annuals (Web of Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man, ect.)for that year. I think the year was 1995. sononsj 19:52, 12 June 2006 (EDT)

Cool, thanks, I thought I had dreamed it up.--Spidey:Weapon X 21:22, 12 June 2006 (EDT)

they made a game for dreamcast that follows that story line exactly... just thought id let you know --pickelteeth 11:31, 5 August 2006 (EDT)pickelteeth

Back in his old suit?

Is any one else hoping to see if Eddie gets his Venom symbiote back from Gargan now that he has resurfaced alive in hospital? david andrews 15:42, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

There is a rumor that he will come back as Venom in the comics before Spider-Man 3 comes out. Read it somewhere. --Wezqu 16:51, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

I hope so he was the best , I mean Gragan looks good but with Brock its personal so its a lot more interesting. Think about though i know he got rid of the symbiote but now that Peter is unmasked and now vounrable it'd be the perfect time for him to make a come back and complete his origanal goal. david andrews 18:48, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

I want Eddie to regain a bit of his sanity first. He seemed out of it... if you know what i mean. I'd actually like to see something of a mental battle for dominance between them or just communication in which Brock gets a bit of an attitude against the symbiote, sorta like Toxin. Because I always thought Eddie was a good character himself even without the symbiote sometimes.

Yes i agree with that , I'd love to see Ed back in the black but after he "mans up" a piece , I mean he sold his suit becuase he saw the passion of the christ. he'll need to toughen up first i guess david andrews 15:38, 6 July 2006 (EDT)

Heh, it would be fun if he would reform himself as a Hero this time and I'm not talking as a anti-hero but bonofied Hero. He would be great asset. Its odd how I didnt really never see him as so evil guy or so clear where he stands and I would think that would like to be hero with others packing him up. --Wezqu 21:03, 6 July 2006 (EDT)

God I hope he gets back in his symbiote because gargan as venom sucks. No one else can be Venom except Eddie Brock.--User:Demond

Ya I think everyone who is a Venom fan is hoping to see that happen. I meen the symbiote could bond with anyone and call itself whatever, but only the rage and hatred of Eddie Brock can truly make Venom. As far as Im concerned I agree that anyone else with the symnbiote is just a stupid idea. - maximum/carnage

Mac Gargan is not the true Venom. Only Eddie Brock is. Gargan should abandon the symbiote as soon as possible and Brock should get it back. I also hate Venom III's look with the eyes showing.-Venomaniac

I agree. I still like Eddie as Venom. To me, you cant have Venom without Eddie. Its just not the same charactor. I really dont like the fact that they got Mac as the new Venom. I think if they're going to basicly kill off Eddie, then they should kill the Venom charactor period. Venom is by far my favorite Marvel charactor ever, but what they are doing with him now is just plain stupid. I love Eddie just as much as I love the symbiote, and it really makes me angry how they are mistreating such a beloved charactor. Basicly, to me, and I'm sure to alot of other fans, the symbiote without Eddie is NOT Venom. And I hope they fix this, and make Eddie and the symbiote Venom once more.-hilldalekid

other symbiotes

i heard there are like ten other symbiots running around ny city that where spawned from other symbiots or just left overs from when carnage called all the other symbiots from space and umm well you know the story any way where are they now and can symbiotes combine because toxin and carnage mixed with venom whould be really cool and also mixed with spiderman doc ock or eddie brock not cain cassedy because he really umm any way does anyone know?21:31, 16 July 2006 (EDT)21:31, 16 July 2006 (EDT)~~

Personally I only like Venom and Carnage cause there the origanals.

There were other symbiotes that came into the picture and they can combine, Hybrid is an example of such.--Venomocity 09:31, 9 August 2006 (EDT)

cool thanx ive never heard of a symbiote combining17:17, 11 August 2006 (EDT)17:17, 11 August 2006 (EDT)

Is the Venom in Spider-Man 3 going to be Eddie Brock?

Can someone tell me for sure if Eddie Brock will be the venom in the next installment in the movie series? I would assume so because he is the most known for the character, but I would like someone else to say it.

Yep, played by Topher Grace. --sononsj

I hope so Venom is only Venom if he is with Eddie. As I've said before anyone else is just stupid.

Not dead, I knew it

When was Eddie Brock revealed to not have died? I haven´t bought any comics later than Spider-Girl #99 so I guess I missed that issue. --sononsj

In Amazing 533, he still has cancer and is stuck in a hospital bed, but he isn't dead.--Spidey:Weapon X 14:36, 27 July 2006 (EDT)

Im new to comic books but from what I have in seeing spiderman when I was little I think venom isn't venom without Eddie. So him with crumy old Gargan is stupid.

Gargan should get his own Symbiote

I don't like this one bit. Venom should should go back to Eddie because I hate any other kind venom host combination.

Hey, I just got an idea. What if Ed got the v-man suit back and Gargan (temporarily) got the carnage suit. --sononsj

You know, I like that idea, after all, Gargan is warped in the head anyway. It would make for a great combo and give Spidey and Ed/Venom a run for their money.--Venomocity 09:18, 9 August 2006 (EDT)

That would be a good idea, expecially eddie becoming Venom again but gargan with the carnage symbiote could only be temporary. I meen as messed up as gargan is i dont think anyone is as warped or makes for a better carnage/host combination than Kasady. Carnage and Kasady just go together like Venom and Eddie, theyre perfect for each other. - maximum/carnage

i thought carnage got ripped apart in space did he return back to earth or something?22:52, 13 August 2006 (EDT)spiderman12901 22:52, 13 August 2006 (EDT)

Sneek Peek For Spidey 3

Here is a link to images of what Sandman, "Hobgoblin" and yes, Venom are apparently goin to look like for Spidey 3 - The images were taken for the SM3 game wich is supposed to follow the movie very closely so you can pretty much get a good idea of what they are to look like for the film. Theyve also called Harry Hobgoblin. I know its bin said already that Harry wont be Hobgoblin, but if theyve changed their minds and thats what they have planned for Hobgoblin in this movie im going to be very very upset. - maximum/carnage

LEAKED VENOM PIC!! and I am not happy about it. He looks like a skinny little punk just like you would have imagined Topher Grace to look as Venom. IT SUCKS!! - maximum/carnage

I think that venom looks great...:D

I would now like to retract my original opinion that Topher Grace would be a bad choice for Venom. In oringal glances of him as Venom he looked like he would be to tiny even after being put through hard training. Now, with new pictures of him circling the internet, of him actually in the Venom costume you see that the man has put on some serious size for this role. Now all thas left is the waiting.......... - maximum/carnage

Venom could lift far more than 11 tons (See Marvel Universe Master Edition)

If no one is going to try to make these entries accurate what is the point? In the Marvel Universe Update it was stated the character could lift 11 tons. Since that time it has been clearly stated in one Marvel Universe Master Edition that he could lift 25 tons and suggested in the books that he could lift at least 50 tons or 79 tons or 100. 11 tons is simply not a significant difference between Spidey's original 10 ton range. Venom would not have been able to throw him around like a rag doll if the two were exactly the same. Majestic_Lizard 21:53, 12 February 2007 (CST)
