The Iron Spider-Man is a Spider-Man costume created by Tony Stark (Iron Man). It is Red and Gold just like Iron Man's Ultimate Costume. The Iron Spider-Man costume was first worn in the Amazing Spider-Man issue #529. This costume was used in the Civil War era.
The Iron Spidey Suit is similar to Tony Stark's Iron Man costume, loaded with lots of gadgets including three mechanical spider-arms that can see around corners and and be used to manipulate objects. Stark describes them as too delicate for combat, but Spider-Man uses them anyway to smash through the sensors in Titanium Man's helmet. Later on during the Civil War storyline he uses them to fight Captain America.
Other features include short-distance gliding capability, limited bulletproofing, built-in fire/police/emergency scanner, audio/visual amplification (including infrared and ultraviolet), cloaking device, carbon filters to keep out airborne toxins, and a short-range GPS microwave communication system. It grants the ability to breathe under water, and can morph into different shapes due to its "'smart' liquid metal" form. It can also "more or less disappear" when not needed. The new costume is able to look like other styles of costumes Spider-Man has worn over the years or turn into his street clothes. Part of the costume can detach it self from Spider-Man to cover an object too dangerous to touch, such as a radioactive asteroid. All these features are controlled by a computer system in the chest piece.
The suit also has a Override system controlled by Stark in case Spidey ever switches sides. Actually, Spidey did switch sides in Civil War Issue #5. Stark would have used the override, but Spidey knew there was an override and cancelled it out.
The Iron Spider-Man costume was going to become his permanant costume, but Marvel decided not to keep it. In Civil War Issue #6 Spidey went back to his Classic Costume and in Issue #7 went to his Black Costume
