Thoth was the son of the Elder Gods, Neith and Nun. They were a member of the Gods of Heliopolis, which were worshiped by the Egyptians long ago. The Pharaoh Ammon-Ra, rose to power and apparently spawned the Ogdoad, gods of Egypt dwelling in Hermopolis. Thoth served with the Ogdoad as the god of wisdom and the moon, however he was ousted from that mantle by Khonshu.
