I saw the message in your edit summary regarding Beast. I went ahead and approved your change. Generally speaking, I leave changes to bios for the Moderators to approve. However, minor typos like that I have no hesitation about approving. Keep contributing and you eventually will be able to approve your own changes. Don't worry about the contribution credit - it happens automatically and it can't be avoided. You have contributed to the article, however minutely, and you deserve credit. Plus, due to either a bug or by design (I'm not sure which) the contributor information expires after a while, so many users keep track of pages to which they have made substantial contributions on their User page.
Unfortunately, new users' contributions sometimes get lost in the shuffle. If you added something and it goes for a while without being noticed, you may want to resubmit it. If it's a big change and you don't feel like retyping it, you may want to bring it to the attention of one of the Moderators, such as Mike Fichera, Stuart Vandal, or DragynWulf. (There are other Moderators, but I've never found a master list.) If left unapproved for too long, the changes will eventually disappear.
I hope that helps. Have fun! --Lonesome Pinky 02:31, 5 August 2006 (EDT)
The page you made was good and you're not in trouble or anything. I just wanted to point somethings out to help you in the future. Somethings to remember when making a disambig page:
-Keep the discription short and simple. We already know they are called "Patch", so there isn't a need to mention it in the discriptions.
-The most popular character comes first and the rest are alphabetical after that.
The names themselves should say who the disambig page is about. In this case it is "Patch", so Frederick Foswell's name should read Patch (Frederick Foswell).
-The images shown should be of the character when they used that identity. Having an image of Spider-Man when Peter Parker was Dusk wouldn't work for the Dusk disambig page for example.
I reworded the Patch page to shorten the discriptions, changed the Foswell name for you. Feel free to check it out to get an idea of what I am talking about. --DragynWulf 23:22, 24 August 2006 (EDT)
Thanks. Is the Wolverine/Patch pictture okay? my scanner doesn't work, so I had to use a picture of regular Wolverine, who, for some reason, had a patch over his eye. --abcdefghijklmno 10:06, 25 August 2006 (EDT)
I saw your profile question about making changes and 8 months later nothing. I looked at your profile and you did not use a template. They will not be approved if you don't use a template. Just make sure you delete the powerbox though. - --mickeys4life 21:03, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
Almost forgot, your questions have a better chance of being answered if you post them on this page here or a mods user talk page. Submitting an edit with your question in the summary box will most likely be ignored. - --mickeys4life 21:05, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
Oh, okay, I didn't know that you needed a template for your own user profile. Thanks, and how long would it take to get a page that I just made for the Resurrection Stone approved?--abcdefghijklmno 14:19, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
Yes...templates for everything. As far as the page you created....I really can't say. I'm just a peon like you. It can be the same day or two weeks from now. It really depends on whether the mods have the time to check it out and if the profile is mistake free. Also, profiles are usually saved for the person with the most knowledge of said character to approve. - --mickeys4life 16:17, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
Your Resurrection Stone page was not approved because it was blatantly taken from the Marvel Appendix site. Sentences were rearranged slightly, but not enough to hide this. Never copy from another site. They can be inaccurate, and even if they are not, that's someone else's work you are copying. Never, ever, copy from the Appendix, unless you have asked and been given permission and then put proper credit on the profile posted here; almost all the moderators here are contributors to the Appendix, so we will recognise where it came from, and we won't be happy about its unauthorised usage. And taking the image from the same site, complete with the label (which wasn't in the comic, only the Appendix site), means that gets deleted too. I'm not wanting to be too harsh, because you are new and perhaps didn't realise that you were wrong to take things from another site, but any work copied will be deleted, not approved. Sorry. While I'm not new, I've only made one page before, a disambiguation page for Patch, and that was a long time ago. Sorry about the paraphrasing from the site, but I was under the impression that since the site was not copyrighted, its only copyright info was to name the copyrights of all of its characters, and that it was a Marvel site would make it okay. I was obviously mistaken, while it was not my only source. I'll try to dig up my old comics to finish that one. Do profile approvals take that little time, too? --abcdefghijklmno 12:17, 17 August 2007 (EDT)
The site IS copyrighted. If someone does original research then the default position is that it is copyrighted, whether or not they put up a disclaimer; the disclaimers are only normally needed to clarify if there are elements not owned by the reference guide (such as noting the characters are owned by Marvel) and to remove any legal excuse of "I didn't know it wasn't copyrighted" if plagiarism goes to court. Even if it wasn't copyrighted, its really poor manners to copy someone else's work, doubly so if you don't credit them so that others will assume it is your work. And even forgetting all that, there's the fact that there is no guarantee that another site will be accurate, even the Appendix. Lastly, no, approvals aren't usually as quick - it's easy to spot entries which are extremely wrong or copied from elsewhere, but a decent profile takes longer to check through for accuracy. Okay, and is there any way to credit an online source within the page?--abcdefghijklmno 19:18, 17 August 2007 (EDT)
Hey bud....your user page needs editing. You have to delete the people category and the power grid. Those are only for actual Marvel characters. If you don't know how let me know and I'll edit it for you. - --mickeys4life 00:30, 22 August 2007 (EDT)
Just to let you know that you can't approve any other persons post than yourself. You are not a Moderator and only moderators can approve other peoples edits. I'm refering this to the comment you made in User talk:Dr. McCoy. Those approving rights you have are self-approving rights you don't have any authority to approve anyone elses edits. I'm not a moderator but I just wanted to let you know that its not allowed. --Wezqu 14:53, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
Sorry about that, I thought that minor ones were okay, but I'll keep that in mind. I've only approved one post of my own, should I approve all of them, or only the ones that I'm positive are okay?--abcdefghijklmno 16:45, 21 August 2007 (CDT)
Well minor ones are not a real problem but in reality if they would allow that then some people still would use it wrong. This way they make sure that there won't be any wrong information on the site. You should just approve those that you know are right if any your old ones aren't approved then there might be something wrong in them or they just went unnoticed. --Wezqu 18:15, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
Thanks, and one other thing if you are still watching my talk page, do you know how I can fix the time zone in my signature? I live in Maryland, in the Easter Time Zone, and my signature says I'm in CDT.--abcdefghijklmno 00:31, 22 August 2007 (EDT)(see)
Not sure if you are talking to me or Wezqu but go to your profile/control panel and you should be able to change timezones. Did you change your user profile page or do you need me to do it? - --mickeys4life 00:45, 22 August 2007 (EDT)
I was talking to Wezqu, but it didn't really matter-thanks for the help. I think I know how to change my user profile page, but Comi-X Fan did it for me before I saw your post. I kind of liked the powerbox, though. I'll try to change my time zone, thanks. Also, I submitted a lot of pictures last night for my user page, and I think that some have been deleted because I saw the thing about only Marvel pictures when I had already submitted two or three personal ones. But the two I put on my page when I saved it were all Marvel-related. Do you have any idea what happened there?--abcdefghijklmno 13:01, 22 August 2007 (EDT)
I figured out what happened to my pictures, and thanks again for the help with the time zones. It turned out that I had my state set to "None", and when I changed it to Maryland, all of my signatures have showed EDT.--abcdefghijklmno 13:36, 22 August 2007 (EDT)
