Trying To Do The Right Thing Always Gets You In Trouble

"Dude, how was I supposed to know about all of that Josiah X editing stuff???" - you weren't. But you could have asked before flinging accusations around in no less than three talk pages, accusing me of being a plagiarist. And I'd already addressed what you said the first time you made the accusation several hours before you repeated it elsewhere, had you bothered to check. "I would have posted here earlier but you don't have a profile, so in my mind that meant you didn't care enough to interact with others." - or perhaps I simply hadn't had time to make a profile. But again, you assumed. Please stop assuming. You could have asked me first, and then, if I had failed to give a valid response, you could have taken it up elsewhere. For what its worth, I'm one of the moderators here, but even if I hadn't been, or it had been another user you were discussing, you shouldn't have started making accusations. "The only reason I noticed it was because I had written the first profile for Josiah X which apparently was not chosen. I used the original materials as my source (the Crew Series)." - if multiple edits are made before one can be approved, then only one can be approved, and the others are wiped - a glitch in the current system. And once an old edit drops off the recent changes page, I can't approve it (at least not currently) - another glitch. "In regards to my comments you know as well as I do that if you wanted to you could go back and delete everything I've posted (including this)." - yes, I could, but that wouldn't address the problem. "(if you are Mike then I am really confused)" - no, I'm not Mike. I'm posting under my own name (as is Mike). "Also, next time could you post in my discussion area and not my profile please." - sure. That was a mistake on my part, which I apologise for. Stuart Vandal 21:47, 11 March 2006 (EST)

Nova Pic

Liqiudviper, They need to adjust the headline for the current Nova profile (it should say Nova (Frankie Raye)). The Nova picture that you put up was for Richard Rider, who doesn't have a profile of his own yet. I'll get right on it and use your pic if that's cool? But for now I'm going to take it down so it doesn't confuse anyone. Just wanted to run it by you cause I'm trying to be polite. Shoot me back if you got something --IRISH4869

Go ahead, it's cool, but you sould probably send Pete a message telling him that the profile is for Frankie Raye, the picture from the Marvel main page was of Richard Rider.--Viper

Editing

Have you noticed that since there are more and more users that can edit bios without approval they are seemingly in a race to edit and create as many bios as they can. Maybe they need to make the points required higher or something. I'm getting kind of annoyed with users making small meaningless changes for no reason.--Viper

How come?

How come everyone else gets proofread and given special pointers and I don't?? You don't like me do you Stuart? That hurts. Did you at least laugh at the Star Trek reference? KHAAAAAAAAAAN! --IRISH4869

I don't dislike you, though I won't deny we had a bad start. I don't have the time to proofread everything, and since you can post unmoderated and are prolific, I don't check all your posts, just the ones I have time to. Your biggest correction area is spelling - you need to run things through a spellchecker - but that's mostly typos as far as I can see. The main posting points you seem to have picked up already from our advice to other posters - don't use other websites for information, use the page formats provided, etc. The only other pointer I'd give you is, if one of the staff makes an amendment and you think its wrong, please check first before changing it to what you think is right - you changed a link I made from Hercules (Heracles) to Hercules. I know there is an existing profile at the latter link, but there's more than one Hercules character in the Marvel universe, and that existing page will be getting moved at some point. Stuart Vandal 18:17, 17 March 2006 (EST)

Spell check!

Irish, please spell check your entries. I've just fixed a number of errors in the Jack of Hearts profile. Stuart Vandal 17:06, 18 March 2006 (EST)

Stuart, I did spell check it, unfortunately not on the version I submited. I've been having issues with the Marvel page and in the process forgot to recheck my entry. Sorry (but there were only four). --IRISH4869

That comment would have worked better if you hadn't gotten the spelling of submitted wrong. :)Or hadn't needed to come back and correct your spelling of "stance" later in the paragraph. And it should be "characters' real names" And "should" doesn't have a g in it. Stuart Vandal 17:39, 18 March 2006 (EST)

Also I have to disagree on your stance about parenthetical referencing of characters real names. I don't think main characters such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, or Captain America should be Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Iron Man (Tony Stark), or Captain America (Steve Rogers) because those are the ones everyone knows. Granted there have been three spidermen, six or seven ironmen, and at least eight captains of america (you like how I phrased that don't you?) but they all are referenced under alternate names or they should be referenced with the parenthesis. I think in most cases primary users shgould not have their real names in parenthesis. It makes the entries and the menu screen look more complicated then it really is and that may turn off casual readers. It might even confuse them. (That last part was to defend my changing of Hercules(Heracles) back to Hercules.) -- Irish 17:18, 18 March 2006 (EST) --IRISH4869

It's not "my stance". It's the stance of all the Handbook writers. Disambiguation pages will be added shortly. Stuart Vandal 17:39, 18 March 2006 (EST)

Gods and Demons category

I've created the Gods and Demons category you added to the Hercules bio. You can go ahead and start adding all of the various deities to it if you want --Viper

I've changed the category to just Gods, as demons already have a category in the form of Horror. --ComiX-Fan 00:46, 22 March 2006 (EST)

Taskmaster

Irish, got a problem with Taskmaster. DragynWulf wrote to us saying he did the bulk of the bio. For some reason, his credit's been bumped off - even his history. One fix would be to delete the entry and start from the beginning with DragynWulf posting the bio again. That would knock out your corrections. Would you mind posting edits to it again to put your name back on the credits? ComiX-Fan's an moderator, so I'm not worried about his contributions.--MikeFichera 16:14, 22 March 2006 (EST)

Respect

Irish4869, I noticed your reply to Stu, "That doesn't mean you have to be a jerk when correcting me." Opening up the MU to the public is a privilege offered generously by a corporation free of charge. This site could have much more easily been a simple reposting of the Official Handbooks, and left off the interactive environment. Stu and the mods are serving you freely as your EDITORS and are authorized as contracted freelancers or fulltime staff of Marvel. Treat Stu and the Marvel staff with the same respect you would your boss. (Treat everyone here with respect for that matter, moderator or not.) Act as if you were writing for Marvel (which, in a sense, you are) and you're addressing your editor who reviews your work. You call your editor a jerk, you can kiss your job goodbye.--MikeFichera 09:22, 23 March 2006 (EST)

emorton mystery

I have a theory that emorton and pete are one in the same, pete proly uses emorton to add images to bios for some reason. Exhibit A: emorton has been posting from the beginning of the marvel universe. Exhibit B: I asked pete to upload the base image for the Eternity bio and emorton uploaded it. Exhibit C: emorton doesn't reply to his user talk. Nuff said--Viper 21:22, 31 March 2006 (EST)

Emorton is Ella, one of my interns (along with Jlai and Jstephens). --pete 12:10, 4 April 2006 (EDT)

I knew emorton was connected with you somehow.--Viper 00:07, 4 April 2006 (EDT)

Charcoal

Sorry - no Charcoal. Unresolved legal issues re: character ownership.--MikeFichera 12:34, 3 April 2006 (EDT)

Frankenstein's Monster

Could you create a bio for Frankenstein's Monster. I have a nice image of him and assumed there was a bio but there wasn't, and I don't have any info to make a bio about him.--Viper 19:44, 10 April 2006

Good Reads

Read the last two sub categories on my user talk page. They're amusing at worst.--Viper 00:57, 13 April 2006 (EDT)

Nice User page....*cough* *cough* *show off* *cough*, sorry I had something in my throat. --Viper 14:36, 22 April 2006 (EDT)

Thor

Thor's your guy, you need to right a big ol' detailed history on him before another user writes one that isn't particularly good. Plus an A list character needs a bio! --Viper 17:27, 23 April 2006 (EDT)

You're right in that "an A list character needs a bio". That's why I gave this handsome fellow a bio. sononsj 19:51, 23 April 2006 (EDT)

Extradimensionals and Categories

IRISH4869, I see you are making a massive reorg here. Did you run this past Pete or any of the mods? I disagree with some of your decisions so far and where this could be heading. There are some extradimenional characters that belong in the main categories with the Earth-616 counterparts. Spidey-2099 has met Spidey-616, and should be filed under Category:Spider-Man. Spider-Girl has met Spidey of 616 and is such a prominent character, she belongs with Spidey's category. Mojo? Longshot? What about Bishop? Fitzroy? Rachel "Marvel Girl" Summers? I don't think this is a decision where an absolute rule applies.--MikeFichera 01:12, 8 May 2006 (EDT)

spelling "conniption"

Irish4869 said," but I didn't want Mike to have a coniption." conniption has 2 ns. --MikeFichera 23:14, 8 May 2006 (EDT)

The Loners

The team name had to be changed to the Loners for legal reasons. I don't know that it has been published as such but we can no longer refer to them by the original name.

--pete 09:42, 11 May 2006 (EDT)

Don't be...

And I changed your comment on that Viper guy's page to "Don't get angry" because the mods were gonna yell at you for it. sononsj 23:37, 11 May 2006 (EDT)

Marvel Zombies

Hey, why'd you have to erase the conversation in the Spider-Man zombie bio I wrote? I can change it back, but I want to know why you deleted it. sononsj 00:49, 12 May 2006 (EDT)

Why'd you delete the categories from the Zombie pages? sononsj 19:55, 19 May 2006 (EDT)

Because they're characters from an alternate reality that have NEVER interacted with Earth-616, therefore they should not spill over into the categories. -- IRISH4869 03:00, 20 May 2006 (EDT)

Mike certainly thinks they should spill over: "Spider-Man category includes alternate universe characters relevant to Spidey, and this universe certainly falls under Horror cat". sononsj 11:33, 20 May 2006 (EDT)

Attitude

IRISH, there's no call for a lousy attitude around here (as evidenced by your "I changed the year on the first appearance. Didn't catch that one didja Stuart?" comment). We're all (hopefully) working toward the same goal, so please tone it down, ok? --ComiX-Fan 08:06, 19 May 2006 (EDT)

Paladin

Irish, I don't know if you saw my previous post. We discussed the MK Category, and I changed my mind. Paladin still isn't a Knight. However, the Category, like Avengers and X-Men, should be inclusive of the characters the Knights have commonly interacted with under the Marvel Knights banner. So, Paladin is fair game for the category. See further description of the category defined under the Category's page. I figured you'd like the honors of editing his bio.--MikeFichera 19:54, 5 June 2006 (EDT)

Squadron Supreme

Characters that have been killed belong in the Deceased category because they are dead. It doesn't matter if they have been in the 616 reality or not. The Deceased categoy is for just that. Dead characters. --DragynWulf 14:40, 9 June 2006 (EDT)

Characters that were once villains belong in the Reformed Villains category because they are now reformed. Again, it doesn't matter if they are not part of the 616 relality because they are former villains that are now reformed. --DragynWulf 14:40, 9 June 2006 (EDT)

Grandmaster used the Squadron Supreme in a battle against Scarlet Centurion and tried to get them to be his pawns again, but they refused and therefore he used the Wellspring of Power to create the Squadron Sinister, who is modeled after the Squadron Supreme. He has history with the team and belongs in the Squadron Supreme category. --DragynWulf 14:40, 9 June 2006 (EDT)

categories

Here's my thoughts (sorry they're so late): - all non-mainstream characters should be labeled as such if there's even a remote chance of confusion by users [so the article title should be Character_name (alternate reality)] - Alt. reality characters can be in very general categories (so alt. reality caharacters can be in categories like "people", "heroes", "villains" etc.) - Alt. reality characters should not be in common character or team-based 616-universe categories (so Spider-Man 2099 should NOT be in the Spider-Man category)

Let's run this by some of the other mods and get a consensus though. You guys are the experts, not me... -- Pete

Moving profiles

When a profile needs to be moved, could you please let either myself or another Moderator know and we will move it instead of using redirects. By making a redirect, it takes the credits away from those that worked on the character prior to creating the redirect. --DragynWulf 23:05, 2 July 2006 (EDT)

Initiative

You asked if you could create the profile. I told you we might have special plans in store for it simular to what was done with Civil War and said to not post it. I told you to save it just in case we do not follow through on what we had planned. Instead of listening, you turned right around and posted it anyways just bcause you didn't like the answer you were given. If you are asked not to do something, it does not mean to do it. Please do not do this again. --DragynWulf 15:43, 9 April 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)

Bashing

Bashing is uncalled for and not allowed. Something that you should know after posting here for the amount of time you have. It will only get you into further trouble than what you've already gotten into. No excuses or comments need to be made on your part on this talkpage or any other talkpage. --DragynWulf 12:20, 20 April 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)
