Is it ok to reword a profile already posted? I have done it on a couple already but want to make sure it is kosher. I come across some sentences that are, for lack of a better phrase, out of order. Dont want to ruffle anyones feathers.- mickeys4life

This is allowed if there is sentences that doesn't make sense. Like missing words or writing mistakes. If the text is good then no you should not reword it. --Wezqu 07:37, 30 June 2007 (EDT)

Am I better off doing two different edits on the same profile? Example: I notice a profile is missing a simple word like "to" in a sentence but also feel a rewording of another sentence/paragraph would improve the profile. Should I make one edit to add the missing word and a separate edit for the rewording in case its not approved? I would only expect one hero point for the changes. The reason I ask is I submitted a change that has yet to be approved/declined. If I had submitted them separately then at least one would have been approved since it's just a missing word in a sentence. -mickeys4life

Only one edit can be approved at a time. So if you make 10 different edits, 9 of them will not show up once 1 is approved. So it is best to make them all in one edit or you will be wasting your time. Also, when making numerous edits, please make sure they are all correct. If you incorrectly list something, make typos, or other errors in a major or small edit, it will not be approved.

The same with Usertalk pages when making more than one edit. I cut-n-pated all the questions you asked onto one edit so they would not be lost. When editing a talkpage with more than one subject, use the edit at the top like you would any profile and then fill in the desired text in areas. This way you get it all on one edit and it can all be approved and answered. --DragynWulf 13:49, 7 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)

Reasons why some profiles was not approved

Will declined profiles be explained to me? I would like to know what my mistakes are so I can fix them.- mickeys4life

I will start from first edit that is still around and hasn't been deleted. In Record bio main image doesn't work if there is no image for the bio then put image_not_available.gif on the image place. Also significant issues part should be description of what happened in that book also there should be the year included when it was published. Same goes to the debut and origins. Check from the other profiles how those should be. Rainbow Bridge and Bifrost are the same place and you made them in separate bios. One bio is only needed the other can be redirected to that bio. In debut and origin should only read the comic book and year when it was published. No descriptions of what happened in that book. When you do a profile of a person you don't have to put People category its already listed in the person template. Same goes to other templates. In Pluto bio your significant issues part is wrong way around comic and year should be inside the brackets. Also text you moved to bio part is copied from marveldirectory and copy paste is not allowed all text should be made by user. Also his that info that was on abilities should be there not on the powers section. Your Jane Foster bio is listed wrong place. People who don't have a alias are listed their lastname first so that should be Foster, Jane. You don't list earth on the citizenship section just country is needed. Identity part should have "Publicly known", "No dual identity", "Secret" and some others but those are the main ones. Your other edits have been already deleted by some admin. I myself aren't a moderator put I have been here for a while so those are the reasons what I could find why they haven't approved some of your edits. --Wezqu 07:37, 30 June 2007 (EDT)

Everything Wezqu mentioned is correct. --DragynWulf 10:17, 30 June 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)

Some more detail on reasons, using Foster, Jane for an example: Significant issues - should be in the past tense. Comic issue references - include the dates of publication Groups - Thor and Cap aren't groups, Jane was never a member of the Avengers. History - Don't refer to Donald Blake as "the Dr." - spell out "the doctor" or simply refer to him as Blake. Earth is capitalized. It's not "to the Ms. Foster" - should be "to Ms. Foster." Blonde is spelled with an "e" at the end for women. Known relatives should include her husband and son mentioned in the text. Entry titles should be her current hyphenated name, if she is currently married. Keep trying - Have someone proof your work before submitting perhaps? --MikeFichera 23:04, 30 June 2007 (CDT)

Thanks for the heads-up Mike. One of my first edit attempts was Lifeform. It still has not been approved and I was wondering if I need to re-submit due to some of the same errors as listed before. -mickeys4life

Yes, a resubmit is needed. --DragynWulf 13:49, 7 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)

Also: If the approvers feel a profile is not worthy of approval do they deny it or let it sit in limbo? It seems that quite a few entries have been waiting for approval for quite some time now. Just curious because I have saved my entries, in case they need tweeking, for re-submittal if denied. - mickeys4life

There is no need to deny approvals because the only way for it to show up is if it is approved. So we can't do anything with it other than not approve it. If it is a new profile, Mods will delete it and mention why it was not approved. If it is an edit, unfortunatly we can't always mention why something was not approved due to time. So if you have a question why something wasn't approved, wait for about 3-4 weeks and then feel free to ask. --DragynWulf 13:49, 7 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)

What about glossary submissions? I have submitted a few that I thought would get immediate approval seeing how they are just definitions.- --mickeys4life 21:55, 10 July 2007 (EDT)

When creating or editing a profile I have notced the "blurb=". What kind of info goes here? I typed some jibberish on one profile just to see what it was and hit "show preview" but I did not see where it would go.- mickeys4life

Blurbs were something that worked in the older Marvel Universe format/design, no idea if it will be used in this new design, so just leave it blank. --DragynWulf 21:51, 30 June 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)

Thank you for responding. Consider it left alone.- mickeys4life

Spider-man profile

I was looking at the Spider-Man (Peter Parker) profile and noticed a disambiguation link for May Parker. In the bio text there is the correct link for Aunt May. I tried to edit the links but the edit option was not available. Are some characters off limits? If so, in the future, do I just leave a message for you?- mickeys4life

Spider-Man and Wolverine bios are locked because they are finished and they don't want anyone messing with them. Like accidentally deleting the text that has happen to some bios. If you notice a mistake in them then report it on the pages discussion page and some admin will fix it when he has the time to do so. --Wezqu 07:10, 1 July 2007 (EDT)

Are the Spider-Man and Wolverine bios the only ones that are locked?--abcdefghijklmno 07:57, 23 August 2007 (CDT)

Well Captain America is one that is locked also. There is some other as well you can see what page is locked when you try to edit there is only "view source" and not "edit". --Wezqu 09:42, 23 August 2007 (EDT)

Uploading pics

Is there a trick to uploading pics? I have scanned a few covers and tried to upload them from my computer. I get a file is empty error. - mickeys4life

There should not be anything wrong with the uploading system. You still need them to be approved and so they might not so to you immediatly. Also pictures shouldn't contain text or text bubbles so if you scanned full covers they wont be approved and they will be deleted. --Wezqu 07:10, 1 July 2007 (EDT)

I cropped them so the writing was not showing. Maybe it has something to do with the other errors I have been getting. I still cannot access the hobby boards.- mickeys4life

Just to let you know that pics should not be taken from different sites it falls under the same as you copied text. Even if those pictures were taken from marvel comics originally they still are taken from another site that you didn't have premission to take. I mentioned it to the summary only because I will leave it to admin to decide what to do. They might not delete them but in the future don't get your pictures from other sites. --Wezqu 11:22, 16 July 2007 (EDT)

My mistake. I wont do it again. Thanks for the headsup. - --mickeys4life 10:32, 16 July 2007 (CDT)

Disambiguation redirects

I cannot find an example of a redirect. I found one before to copy the code but cannot remmember where I found it. What is the redirect code? There are some profiles I would like to redirect. -mickeys4life

For re-directs sometimes it can be tricky to get them under the correct entry. In order to make sure the redirects are correct, please post it on the [Marvel Universe: Wanted (Bio Moving List)] area, which was just added. --DragynWulf 13:49, 7 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)

Please wait 3-4 weeks before posting material from recently released issues. They will not be approved until after that time frame so posters are not spoiled. --DragynWulf 20:43, 9 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)

Is this in regards to my category change? If so I did not realize that was considered a spoiler. Thanks for the heads up.- --mickeys4life 21:55, 10 July 2007 (EDT)

Just wanted to let you know that categories are only for main universe characters or those characters that have lived in the main universe for sometime. Like for example Nocturne or Deathlok. Of course House of M, Age of Apocalypse and other alternative universe categories can be added to those alternative universes characters that are from that universe or has visited it, but not the basic categories like deceased, people who used to be dead but aren't anymore, villians, heroes, horror, cosmic and so on. --Wezqu 20:18, 10 July 2007 (EDT)

I just noticed that someone put Avengers (MC2) in the Avengers category. Shouldn't this be changed back? - --mickeys4life 14:12, 19 August 2007 (EDT)

Yeah it should and I did already delete it. Avengers (MC2) havent have any contact with the main universe Avengers. --Wezqu 14:19, 19 August 2007 (EDT)

Thanks Wezqu. I didn't want to ruffle any feathers so I figured a double-check was in order. - --mickeys4life 14:33, 19 August 2007 (EDT)

Hero Points?

Question: Do we still get a point for editing a profile that in turn is reworded by a mod? I edited a typo in the Taskmaster profile. It was changed but reworded by a mod. Does that still count towards my point count or is it considered a bad edit? The sentence worked both ways but the mods reword does sound better. A second fix to the Taskmaster profile was not changed though. Maybe I'm reading it wrong but the sentence just does not make sense to me the way it is written now. Can anyone clarify? ---mickeys4life 21:55, 10 July 2007 (EDT)

You will always get a point when your entries get approved. So you did get a point on that case if the admin approved it before he edited it and I think he/she did so. So yes you got the point. About the Taskmaster profile they might have just overlooked the edit because they have tons of profiles to go trough just edit it again if you think they missed it. --Wezqu 16:51, 11 July 2007 (EDT)

Im not sure if it was approved before the edit or not...oh well. Its no big deal. I will resubmit the other edit and see what happens. Thanks again. - --mickeys4life 17:37, 11 July 2007 (CDT)'

Been gone awhile since Hero Points stopped adding up for me....decided to see if that problem was fixed when I saw someone post they received their first point on the message boards. Alas, that was not the case. My question is why do I no longer get Hero Points for edits or new bios? I have noticed that if I approve my post/edit it still shows up in watchlist as not approved...yet the change will show up on the Marvel Universe Main Page. Is anyone else having this problem? --mickeys4life 18:01, 27 April 2009 (CDT)

Talk Pages

Why do my questions/responses show up immediately on other talk pages but not on mine? - --mickeys4life 21:55, 10 July 2007 (EDT)

They don't. They will appear when someone approves them. Like when someone answers them but as you have noticed admins not always approve all talk page changes. --Wezqu 16:49, 11 July 2007 (EDT)

I guess someone was looking at those pages as I posted then. Does that include the Marvel and help talk pages as well? Those seem to be the ones that show up right away for me. Thanks anyways....I was just curious. - --mickeys4life 17:37, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

PLEASE.....somebody explain this to me? ---mickeys4life 21:55, 10 July 2007 (EDT)

Just to say that you have old Internet Explorer. Its now already in 7.0 I'm not sure if it is because of this, but it wouldn't hurt at all to try. --Wezqu 16:47, 11 July 2007 (EDT)

Weird. It used to work no problem. My work computer is running version 6.0 as well but everything works fine. I havent downloaded 7 yet because I dont like the way it looks. I guess when I get home I will try it. Thanks for trying bud. - --mickeys4life 17:37, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Well you can try Firefox if you don't want to install the 7.0 and check if it does the same thing. If it does then the problem might be in your connection. --Wezqu 19:21, 11 July 2007 (EDT)

I downloaded Firefox last difference. I will be staying with Firefox though....a lot better then Explorer. I have a message from Pete in my inbox saying my problems should be fixed though so I will see when I get home. Thanks again for trying to help. ---mickeys4life 16:31, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

I accepted the Lifeform event profile. In the future, do not capitalize "The" in The Punisher, The Hulk, etc. if mid sentence. --MikeFichera 01:06, 11 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)

Rann's edits

In Rann's profile, there were many Microverses before they all collapsed into a single Microverse. Thanks for catching the other errors!--MikeFichera 01:36, 11 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)

Eh..changed my mind again...the Microverse proper (with a capital M) - "Inner Space" - can be said to be THE Microverse. I'll just keep your edit. Nevermind.. --MikeFichera 01:44, 11 July 2007 (CDT)(Moderator)

Orphaned pages and Uncategorized categories?

What are orphaned pages and uncategorized categories? How are they orphaned/uncategorized? Are they to be left alone? I know I ask a lot of questions. I dont want to become a nuisance here. - --mickeys4life 17:37, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Well Orphaned Pages are just pages that doesn't have much views nothing to worry about there is always pages that doesn't get much views. Uncategorized Categories means just that in those categories there is no categories. Like in Heroes and Villains categories there is People category. It also is nothing to worry about. --Wezqu 19:21, 11 July 2007 (EDT)

Just wanted you to know that Necronomicon is not marvel property and can't be listed in anywhere on this site. That includes closary page. Crossovers are all tricky and you really can't do profiles about the crossover characters because marvel doesn't own those characters Necronomicon is one of those. --Wezqu 17:18, 13 July 2007 (EDT)

I did not know that...I did not know anyone owned the name, I thought it was just a generic historical term used for the book of the undead....LOL. So Marvel owns the rights to Abdul Alhazred but not to the book he uses? Man that is confusing. Thanks for the heads up. - --mickeys4life 16:31, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

Ups, sorry wrong book there is two. If you have seen the old movie Army of Darkness there was Necronomicon on it and they made a cross over short while ago of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness. The Necronomicon in that series can't be used because it is owned by Dynamite Entertainment. This book seems to be a different one and can be made a profile. Characters that are not marvel property can be mentioned but bios of them can't be made as you know. Sorry I jumped the gun didn't know there was another Necronomicon in Marvel Universe. Also you should make another bio about the book because moderators don't really like words to be linked in the closary entries. There is a object template for items if you wan't to do it. --Wezqu 17:41, 13 July 2007 (EDT)

I was typing this as you changed your mind...LOL. I had already saved the do not make profile. LOL. Is my definition erased now? I did not save it so I cant recall what I had linked in the definition. I shouldnt do a definition but a bio instead? I will make a "do not make a profile" profile for it then...LOL. Is there a website that lists non-Marvel characters/items? What about my Asgardian definition? Ive submitted it twice and still it's not it off limits as well? - --mickeys4life 16:49, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

Yes I noticed that well I think they will delete it. Well admins like to have bios about the items of marvel universe also its not wrong to do so. There is for example bios about Cosmic Cube and Infinity Gems. Also the edits in the glosary pages might not get approved because admins don't think they are really needed to be edited. I tried once to ask if the admins could put a list of the non-Marvel Characters but didn't get a answer. Well mostly if the character is owned by somebody else than Marvel its usually hands off character. --Wezqu 17:59, 13 July 2007 (EDT)

I resubmitted the definition and I will create a bio as well. Thanks for keeping me on my toes once again. - --mickeys4life 17:16, 13 July 2007 (CDT)

Edit reasons

mickey, can you please ensure that you provide informative reasons for the edits you're making in the "Summary" field? Things like "minor edits" tell us nothing at all about what you've edited. Thanks. --ComiX-Fan 08:46, 17 July 2007 (EDT)

No problem. I was just copying what I had seen others use. I will be more informative from now on. ---mickeys4life 08:17, 17 July 2007 (CDT)

When not to use a category?

Question about categories. Are they only for the main Marvel Universe? If its an alternate reality/universe do we skip from putting the profile under other categories? Example: If the character is a woman, Canadian, villain and a mutant in both realities, can all those categories be assigned to her for both profiles? Also a question about species....can they be listed under the cosmic category as well? I ask because a species profile I submitted was edited to add the Cosmic category. Thanks in advance for answering my question. - --mickeys4life 20:36, 20 July 2007 (EDT)

Alternative universe characters can't be listed in anywhere else than categories that are reserved for alternative universe characters like Age of Apocalypse and House of M. Expection is only made when the character is frequent visitor of main Marvel Universe or they now live in Marvel Universe like Deathlok or Nocturne. Well I'm not sure if every race can be added to cosmic category. The Xandarians that I added could because they were the race that used Nova Corps. --Wezqu 03:14, 21 July 2007 (EDT)

Question about Marvel Universe connections

How do the connections work? I thought it went by how many links were on a characters profile page. Thena, for example, has quite a few other characters linked in her profile but her Marvel Universe Connections equals only two. I have noticed this on other characters profiles as well and I am curious as to how they work. - --mickeys4life 22:29, 22 July 2007 (EDT)

Are you sure you saw it right to me its shows there to be 26 connections? --Wezqu 05:41, 23 July 2007 (EDT)

Good morning all. On my screen Thena is showing two link connection, yet I counted 26 connected connections. I have noticed that in most cases the bibliography connections are only ones being total up ----ohitsme 06:30, 23 July 2007 (CDT) I am showing 26 as well. Maybe its another bug in the system. - --mickeys4life 08:09, 23 July 2007 (EDT)

That's strange because I am still showing 2.--ohitsme 07:41, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

Alternate realities/universes, how to label them?

Can we do profiles for What If stories? If so, what Universe do we put them in? - --mickeys4life 04:46, 24 July 2007 (EDT)

Can someone delete a profile

Can a mod delete this profile, Rigellians (Colonizers of Rigel)? This is already created under Rigellians. Thanks. - --mickeys4life 18:52, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

Items and Object categories

When creating a profile for an item you have to use the object template but I see someone tried to add an item category to a profile I did. Should items be listed under both or is one of the categories obsolete? - --mickeys4life 22:54, 28 July 2007 (EDT)

All-American bio mistake

I created the All- American profile but put a space after "-"...I noticed the online bibliography link was still red and found my goof-up. Can a mod fix the title for me? Thanks. - --mickeys4life 17:24, 12 August 2007 (EDT)

Done - thanks for the Hulk 2099 link catch too. --MikeFichera 21:31, 13 August 2007 (CDT) (moderator), back from vacation

No problem. I am here to serve. - --mickeys4life 08:40, 15 August 2007 (CDT)

How to label bio's with same name?

If two characters from the same universe have shared the same name, and also have unrevealed real names, how do we label them when creating their profiles? - --mickeys4life 08:40, 15 August 2007 (CDT)

Tell me what alias and I will make a disambiguation page for it and then you know where to post them. --Wezqu 10:19, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

I know about disambig pages...I'm talking about how to label them. The character(s) in question are Sorcerer. Both have unrevealed names. Do they both get labeled Sorcerer (unrevealed)??? - --mickeys4life 18:06, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

Forget about my question...I found the links on the online bibliography already made out. If no names are available then list their common foes. - --mickeys4life 19:23, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

I wouldn't list them by who their common foes were. Reason why because they can later become someone elses foe and so for that would not anymore be valid. Also it might make some people misread it so that they think that he was that character also who he was foe. I would rather recomend to use something like team name where they were/are a member, second alias, job like mercanery/spy/etc., use race if the character is from different race like deviant, mutant, eternal, inhuman, etc., if he worked for someone agent or pawn can be good ones and there several more. One reason why I asked the alias because I could have considered what of those would be the best to those characters. I wouldn't seperate them by who their main enemy was main reason to this is because there is really no character that has been seperated by who his foe is/was. --Wezqu 20:31, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

That is how they are listed here- Online bibliography. I believe they were listed this way because all of the other criteria you suggested is unknown for each character. No teams, race, religion, agents etc etc. - --mickeys4life 20:39, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

There is quite much information of them. For example Human Torch guy was a hermit. So he could be listed as Sorcerer (hermit) and the Spider-Man character as Sorcerer (psychic) as he was a psychic. I myself dont like those listing ways that list character as some characters foe. Also the reason why I think they put them that way was that the person who made the page didn't know much of the character and did that fast. Usually they don't bother to check the links. In this case the book had two characters with same alias and the guy had to invent some way to separate them. So in reality that was easy and fast way to do it. In the book there is no Spider-Man foe and Human Torch foe in there. --Wezqu 20:51, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

Yeah, the book just says Sorcerer for both. I will hold off on messing with them so that one of the mods may see this question and change the links so that they make sense. I have already found a couple of instances where the bibliography links don't match up with already created profiles. Thanks for your help friend. - --mickeys4life 20:56, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

Heh just noticed something on the bibliography page the other characters name was mentioned in Fantastic Four Encyclopedia 2004 as Dorian Murdstone. I'm not quite sure if thats is his name but if its mentioned there it should be valid. I would not still name the Spider-Man character as unrevealed there is at least one other character who has used alias Sorcerer and his real name is not revealed. --Wezqu 20:59, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

Hmmmm.....same Sorcerer? I guess they missed that appearance in the "Where are they now?" section in the back of the book. Email the info to DragynWulf to see if you get it listed under the corrections section. - --mickeys4life 21:14, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

Thor category question

Spidey has his categories, Avengers have do the Fantastic Four and X-Men. Even the Canadians get a category..... Can Thor get some category love as well? A straight up Thor category and maybe a villain section as well. He is one of the oldest (and more importantly, my favorite character) in the Marvel Universe. I believe there are plenty of others out there who would like the ability to search through Thor characters only on the universe site. Is this a possibility? - --mickeys4life 21:35, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

Double redirects page

Are these listed so they can be fixed to single redirects? - --mickeys4life 23:49, 22 August 2007 (EDT)

It would be better that the links go straight to the page they are intendent but of course when someone moves characters these redirect and double redirects happen. Double redirects should be fixed as they will just unnecesery use the resources of the server as you go from several pages to the page your were looking for. --Wezqu 06:31, 23 August 2007 (EDT)
