Origin
Moon Knight #33 (1983)
Living on the streets with no source of income, Walsh looked to extort money from local businesses and had just left one establishment when he bumped into Joy on the street, and she asked to buy him dinner. Initially mistaking her proposal for genuine interest, Walsh soon discovered Joy wanted to write an article about him with the promise of a potential second date. He was up front with her about his exaggerated exploits and showed a side that challenged his tough-guy reputation that everyone seemed to fear. After dinner Walsh was disappointed when Joy left him standing alone on the sidewalk not realizing she was merely using him for a story.
When the article was printed the following day, Walsh needed someone to recite it to him since he did not know how to read. He was devastated to hear the cruel and heartless words of Joy Mercado, publicly humiliating him. Walsh was beside himself, unsure what to do, but he decided to pay her a visit. Once inside the Daily Times, Walsh saw the subject of Joy's next "Exploding Myth," Moon Knight. When Moon Knight placed himself between the enraged Walsh and Joy, Walsh pummeled him and left with Joy, taking her back to the place where they had their "date." He chased everyone out and set the timer on a homemade bomb while giving her the real story behind Druid Walsh most never heard.
Moon Knight mounted a rescue, but Walsh wasn't going to make it easy. He fought Moon Knight to a standstill, but one lucky shot allowed Moon Knight to escape with Joy. Walsh gave chase, and he and Moon Knight continued fighting on the roof of the skyscraper the restaurant was in. Walsh collapsed from exhaustion, giving Moon Knight the opportunity to get him to safety, but the bomb detonated, and Moon Knight had no choice but to save himself instead. Druid Walsh died that day along with the myth, but truth of the matter was he was just a dumb thug who never hurt anyone unless he was pushed first.
