Carnage freed himself and Shriek from prison and recruited Doppelganger (Spider-Man Unlimited #1, 1993); fought against Spider-Man, Cloak and Dagger, Dagger dies (Web Of Spider-Man #101, 1993); defeated Spider-Man and Venom (Amazing Spider-Man #378, 1993); Carnage recruited Demogoblin and fought against Spider-Man, Cloak, Black Cat and Venom (Spider-Man #35, 1993); Carnage and others started to terrorize the city (Spectacular Spider-Man #201, 1993); Spider-Man, Cloak, Black Cat, Venom and Morbius tried to stop them (Web of Spider-Man #102, 1993); Carrion was recruited and Deathlok tried to stop them (Amazing Spider-Man #379, 1993); heroes once again tried to stop them with the help of Firestar (Spider-Man #36, 1993); Firestar almost killed Carnage and Venom was captured (Spectacular Spider-Man #202, 1993); Nightwatch helped the heroes (Web of Spider-Man #103, 1993); Captain America and Iron Fist got involved (Amazing Spider-Man #380, 1993); Venom managed to escape and Dagger was again among the living (Spider-Man #37, 1993); Carnage seemed to be dead and the others were defeated (Spectacular Spider-Man #203, 1993); Carnage attacked Venom and Spider-Man and was eventually defeated (Spider-Man Unlimited #2, 1993)
The Carnage Family came together when Carnage broke free from prison, uniting several other psychopaths to wreak havok with him. The Carnage Family massacred several areas of New York City, killing hundreds of people. They were met by an opposition composing of Spider-Man, Venom, and several other prominent super heroes. Although demonstrating superior power and skill early on, the Carnage Family was eventually defeated, resulting in the death of the Doppelganger and the defeat of all the other members.
