Significant Issues
From within the host body of Zhou Cheng, the Ch'i-Lin sought the death of Iron Fist, so it could eat the egg of Shou-Lao, but its plans were thwarted by Rand and his allies (The Immortal Iron Fist #17-20, 2008)

Next to nothing is known about the creature called the Ch'i-Lin except it hungers for the egg of the dragon, Shou-Lao the Undying, and will never stop trying to get it. The only way for the beast to obtain the egg is to kill the champion of K'un-Lun, the one who is the Iron Fist. The Ch'i-Lin can hone in on the chi of Shou-Lao, and therefore, it can use the source of its enemy's power to track him. The demon possesses human hosts, possibly from the same bloodline, to travel throughout the world in search of its prey. The host benefits from the Ch'i-Lin's power immensely, but the host knows that failure will result in death. The demon's hunger is the source of its strength, and even though the creature cannot be killed, it can suffer defeat – such was the case after the Iron Fist, Kwai Jun-Fan, fell before its power.

The Ch'i-Lin used Kwai's body as a gateway to journey to the cave of Shou-Lao, but it was greeted by Lei Kung, the Thunderer and one hundred soldiers. The beast fought hard and suffered many injuries, but its defeat came when the Thunderer cut off its lower jaw, preventing it from using its massive mouth to bite down on the egg. The monster tried again with Orson Randall, but he was successfully able to hide from the Ch'i-Lin.

Its most recent attempt was sending its servant, Zhou Cheng, after K'un-Lun's current champion, Danny Rand. Zhou had come close on several occasions to killing Rand, but Danny had an army of friends willing to lay down their lives for him. Luke Cage, Colleen Wing, and Misty Knight are three of Danny's oldest and dearest friends, but they were nothing more than a distraction to the Ch'i-Lin. However, others like Danny, the Immortal Weapons, were able to fight the beast off. In the end, it was Rand himself who defeated Zhou, and the victory came on more than one level. The Ch'i-Lin seems to have links to the Eighth Capital City of Heaven – something the Immortal Weapons were searching for – and now with the help of a map found in Zhou's possession, they have found it.
