Elijah was a depowered mutant, after M-Day and leader of the terrorist group X-Cell. He blames the government for the loss of his powers.
Agents from S.H.I.E.L.D. were sent to apprehend Elijah Cross after he sent a toy elephant that almost choked a government official. Rictor and Wolfsbane intervened believing the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents to be criminals.
Elijah Cross later went to Quicksilver and asked him if he can restore his powers alongside the X-Cell members with him. Elijah used his powers to fight X-Factor Investigations. In the middle of the fight, Cross began to smoke and then exploded as a result of the Terrigen Crystals.
