Abilities
By concentrating on the amulet he carries, Chris Powell can exchange places with his android Darkhawk form Null Space. While active as Darkhawk, Chris' own body is kept in stasis within Null Space as his consciousness inhabits Darkhawk. Darkhawk's second (once abandoned) android body had increased powers including the ability to manifest larger force shields (often in the shape of a giant hawk), projection of the amulet's energy as a tractor beam, sustained flight, energy blast from the helmets 's eyes, a stealth mode that rendered it invisible to sensors, and various weapons which could be teleported from the Null Space vessel. Chris Powell was a normal New York City teenager until he found the Darkhawk amulet in an old abandoned amusement park. With the amulet he could transfer his consciousness into a shadowy avian android named Darkhawk. Chris learned to control the powers provided him by the android body. He teamed with various heroes including Spider-Man, Iron Man, the New Warriors, and the West Coast Avengers.

Chris recently came to terms with his teenage superhero past by joining a support group for others like him, called The Loners. With Turbo, Ricochet, Phil Urich, Julie Power, and Chamber (actually an imposter), Darkhawk tracked down the teen super group known as the Runaways, in an attempt to rehabilitate them. The Runaways escaped as The Loners were pitted in battle against the malevolent Ultron. After this, the support group was introduced to their benefactor, none other than the most famous teen sidekick of all, Rick Jones.

During the extraterrestrial reptilian Skrull's, Secret Invasion of Earth Darkhawk was assigned to Project PEGASUS and appointed Security Chief. While performing his duties he came into conflict with Nova (Richard Rider), whom he though was a Skrull in disguise. After a very brief scrimmage and swift intervention By Robert Rider, Nova's identity was confirmed. Not long after a quick explanation of what was going on the Skrulls attacked Project PEGASUS only to be defeated by Darkhawk, Nova and a reborn Quasar.

After the events of the Skrull invasion Chris is left still with more questions about his power, the burst of rage he feels. Unable to accept help from Peagus researchers he returns to the Loners seeking help from his ex-girlfriend Michiko Musashi. As the two are discussing Chris's problem a fire ball is seen plummeting into Chris's backward. The fire ball is in fact another Darkhawk called Talon, after fighting of the Darkhawk hunter that was perusing Talon, Talon offers Chris the chance to learn about his armor. Reluctant at first Micky persuades Chris into seeking Talon's help.

With Chris in tow Talon makes for the Negative zone seeking out the cosmic that Annihilus once held along the way Talon tries to show Chris how to properly use his armor, later feigning that his life is in danger to force Chris in using heavy combat mode. Once Chris gains the ability to use his armor he realizes that Talon and the other Raptors like them are evil. Confronting Talon about it he admits that is all true, then send Chris inside of his Null space, along the Raptor personality Razor to come to the surface. There Chris encounters the Skrull host of Talon who tells him that the reason he has burst of rage is because the amulet was not meant for humans, but that rage is his power. If he can channel it he can take control of his armor again, at the same time Razor had been sent Shi'ar to kill Lilandra. Using his rage to fuel him Chris take back over the armor, but not before Razor has already killed Lilandra.

As soon as he has control the armor Chris is caught in a desperate fight with the Star Jammers and Gladiator. Taking advantage of and explosion Chris slips away, so that he can track down Talon, tricking Talon into believing Razor has reasserted himself over Chris he smashes him into one of the Shi'ar ships. In the battle Chris banishes Talon to the negative zone the same way Talon had sent him, the Skrull host now free he makes Chris swear that he will hunt the rest of the Raptors who have escaped. Agreeing to this the Skrull throws himself in the ships engines killing himself and Talon. Setting of Chris pursues the amulets as the most wanted man in the galaxy. Later on when Gladiator has taken the role of Magestrix we see that Talon is still alive control events from the background.

Later we see Chris hunting the rest of the Raptors pursued by his old friend Richard Rider (Nova). The last we see of the two they are attacked by a new emerged Raptor, and the planet they are on is destroyed.
