It appears that his abilities varies depending on the Life Forces in the Runes. He has been seen using the using the abilities of flight as well as plasma projection from his hands. He was also able to return himself to a youthful state before he engaged the Infinity in battle.

Zakaius the Life-Stealer extracted life-force runes for Lord Domitian who used them to gain power, he realized Domitian’s misuse of them & rebelled, Domitian badly wounded Moondragon, but was defeated by the Infinity Watch (Warlock and the Infinity Watch #37-39, 1995)

Lord Domitian was a very old ruler of an unknown world. He appeared to have command of many cybernetic warriors. The most loyal was known as Kaef. Domitian sent his executioner Zakaius after the Herald of Galactus, known as Firelord. Zakaius defeated Firelord and set his sites on a greater threat to the Imperial Court. Adam Warlock and the Infinity Watch. After the rescued the innocent people that Zakaius put risk in his attempt to bring them down, he was convinced that Warlock and the Infinity Watch were heroes. He told them of his misdeeds an teleported them to the domain of Domitian. They requested the Life Force Rune of the Firelord. Domitian refused them and reverted to a younger version of himself. He battled the watch and brutally injured Moondragon. Seeing that the Watch was was over matched Zakaius used his powers to steal the life force of his Lord Domitian.
