Base of Operations
Unrevealed, formerly Staten Island Dump
World War Hulk: Gamma Corps #1 (2007)
After several covert missions, like when Ryker sent them out to kill his former lackey called Flux, the Gamma Corps training was finally put to the test when the Hulk waged war on the heroes of Earth – namely the members of the Illuminati – for sending him to another planet so he could finally be alone. His ship went off course and the Hulk was sent to a violent world where he suffered numerous trials before finding a queen who would soon give him a child. However, the ship that brought Hulk to the planet of Sakaar exploded and killed most of his new world including his wife and unborn child. The Hulk's anger was like never before, and with that, his strength was greater than it had ever been. The Gamma Corps were not ready for this new version of Banner and despite the fact that a concentrated attack led their field leader, Grey, to snap the Hulk's neck, the Hulk quickly recovered, fought back and then found their base in the Staten Island Dump.
The Gamma Corps gave chase, but they were no match for the rampaging Hulk. The Hulk not only beat them physically, but he defeated them mentally as well. He forced each member of the Corps to look at themselves and what he showed them was something they tried to bury inside. Each one shared a tragic moment in their lives that they chose to blame the Hulk for, but the person they should have blamed was either themselves or a close family member, or the man that ultimately lied to them – General Ryker. He didn't tell them about the untold number of volunteers who perished because of what he was doing, and that he only found success in five cases, the active members of the Gamma Corps. Ryker also neglected to inform his team that they were being used as the tool of his personal vendetta against the Hulk. Once Banner opened their eyes, the team turned on their founder and destroyed his base of operations. Now, on their own, the Gamma Corps have found new enemies: Iron Man, Mister Fantastic, Black Bolt and Doctor Strange. When and how they decide to deal with these targets has yet to be revealed.
