The alien interloper known as Khan is the tyrannical dictator of a vast extra-dimensional empire, which consists of alternate versions of Earth. They are found throughout the dimensions of the multiverse. Using otherworld technology, he and his armies travel from world to world via dimensional portals. They were merciless in their endeavor to conquer new worlds, and those that to surrender prospered from the technology he brought, and those that opposed him were slaughtered.

When Khan set out to conquer the 616 universe’s Earth, he encountered the X-Treme X-Men team that was stationed on the back water island of Madripoor. This team of X-Men was led by Storm. They were searching for the diaries of the blind mutant seer Destiny. The diaries mapped the future of the mutant race. During a mission in Australia, Storm was reunited with Gambit who sought to obtain her mother's ruby. It was revealed that the ruby was part of a set, that when empowered, could open a portal between dimensions. Several of the gems were already missing, and Gambit wished to ensure that Storm's ruby remained safe. However, the other-dimensional warrior, known only as Shaitan launched an attack, captured Gambit and stole the ruby. Shaitan used the gems and Gambit's mutant ability to empower the gems, thus opening a portal allowing the armies of his master, Khan, to pass through and invade Earth. The X-Treme X-Men, eventually captured Khan, but one of Khan's lieutenants was able to liberate Khan. In the midst of their escape they abducted Storm. Who was still recuperating from her battle with Viper. While being held captive by the X-Men, Khan developed feelings for Storm.

After returning to his own dimension Khan informed Storm, that he intended for her to be his queen, and commanded his physicians to heal her. Storm attempted to seduce Khan into calling off his invasion whilst her team mates fought to close the portal. Khan's other concubines grew jealous of Storm's advances and attempted to kill her. Despite her injuries, Storm prevailed and escaped, rejoining her team mates as they destroyed the portal. Khan's has not been seen in the 616 universe since these events.
