Kierrok was the creation of the Elder God, Chthon. He is the master of N'Garai demons. Kierrok and his N'Garai once ruled mankind and wish to rule it once more. Kierrok was released onto the Earth by the X-Man Cyclops. While he was mourning the death of John Proudstar, Cyclops eye-beamed an ancient obelisk known as the Cairn, which triggered Kierrok's release. A battle ensued, which resulted in Damaging the X-Mansion. The newly reformed X-men appeared to be losing the battle, Kierrok was even able to defeat their leader Charles Xavier after a mind-probe overwhelmed his psyche. However, Storm was able to find the Cairn and destroyed it, which sealed Kierrok in his dimension, seemingly forever.
