Following many successes, the High Evolutionary sought a warrior race to defend his Citadel of Science on Mount Wundagore should mankind lapse into another world war. The Evolutionary developed Isotope C, which could endow new [[Knights of Wundagore]] with greater strengths. Isotope C was tested on the first wolf, which the Evolutionary had evolved, but an unexpected visit from the Norse god [[Thor]] distracted him, and the creature was left under the Genetic Accelerator too long, evolving the creature to the end point of human and lupine evolution. Hating all life, this Man-Beast attacked Thor and the Evolutionary, then used the Genetic Accelerator to form its own New Men army.
