Having witnessed the murder of her policeman father at a young age, Kiden Nixon grew into a rebellious teenager, attending rave parties, taking drugs, and stealing to support her smoking habit. Nixon's mutant nature first manifested itself at school after she opposed student gang leader Hector, resulting in his arm being broken. Seeking revenge, Hector attempted to shoot Nixon, but wounded her teacher Mrs. Palmer instead after Nixon used her powers to evade the attack. Confused and in panic Nixon fled, and for the next six months she lived on the streets while exploring her powers and joining other runaways. She became involved with the Runaway Alex who later became homesick and decided to return to his family causing Kiden to reconsider her situation as well. She returned to her hometown but remained on the streets due to an argument she had with her brother who made her believe the entire family was better off without her. After then seeing visions of her deceased father whom she believed was trying to communicate with her, Nixon managed to save Mrs Palmer who had attempted to kill herself. She then became involved with fellow runaway Catiana and X-23 in opposing X-23's pimp Zebra Daddy (who also turned out to be the murderer of Kiden's father) and his forces. Afterwards the mutant girls as well as Mrs Palmer moved in with Bobby who had previously been employed by Zebra Daddy to oppose them. Kiden then writes a letter to her mother that doesn't reach her due to her families moving away after her mother remarried.

By the time the letter gets sent back to her Kiden has already taking up a job as a dishwasher in addition to her regular dumpster diving in order to support her life with Bobby, his little brother and Catjana (X-23 has left under unrevealed circumstances).

Though morally balanced, Nixon's anti-authoritarian nature coupled with her mutant power makes her a potentially considerable threat.
