Izzy and his partner Gus investigated a domestic dispute in Mutant Town. They were told by a man not to untie his wife. They ignored him and untied her. The two were apparently influenced by her power. Other police found the couple dead, and both Izzy and Gus suffering from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Gus retired after the incident. Izzy was assigned a new partner--Bishop.

Tragedy occured when Izzy left his gun at home. His son Esteban accidentally shot his sister Chamrya. Mister M, who had been told to ask Izzy for help, was able to remove the bullet. However, Chamrya later died when the effects of a shooting during the House of M remained.

Izzy has had marital troubles and began a relationship with Lara the Illusionist.
