Ozymandias was previously a high-ranking general in ancient Egypt. Considering himself rightful heir to the throne, he secretly planned an overthrow of Rama-Tut, the god-pharaoh of Egypt who had descended from the heavens (actually [[Kang]], who had come back in time). En Sabah Nur, while exploring Rama-Tut's futuristic technology, confronted Ozymandias and threw him into the machinery. Ozymandias emerged as the stone-like creature he is today and received visions of the future up until Kang's time - though his mind could not retain those visions. En Sabah Nur turned the forced Ozymandias to be his protector, oracle, and scribe.

Ozymandias has served the eternal mutant Apocalypse for over three thousand years. He guards his master while he regenerates, and readies for a time where mutantkind must be saved.

For years he has watched people insane enough to follow Apocalypse betray, deceive and kill their own relations in order to claim the right to be he who is closest to En Sabah Nur The Fittest.

Ozymandias was previously a high-ranking general in ancient Egypt.
