Davos is the son Of Lei Kung the Thunderer, martial arts grandmaster of K'un-Lun. He was a peer of Wendell Rand-Kai (adopted son of Tuan and father of current Iron Fist, Daniel Rand). Both Davos and Wendell had spent their lives training under Lei Kung, honing themselves in to superb martial artists, but only one of them could earn the right to challenge Shou-Lao the Undying and earn the power of the Iron Fist.

Davos and Wendell faced each other in a test of combat, which Wendell won. Davos thought the fight was stopped prematurely because Tuan did not want to see his adopted son defeated, but all present knew the fight had been called correctly, even Davos' father Lei Kung. Davos stormed out of the ceremonial chamber after yelling at Tuan and his father.

Defying K'un-Lun law, Davos went to challenge Shou-Lao even though he had lost that honor to Wendell Rand-Kai. He called out his challenge to the dragon and the enormous beast charged out to face him, deeply cutting Davos' face. But Davos knew the secret to the dragon's power and blocked the flow of energy entering Shou-Lao with his body. He couldn't take the searing pain however, and was forced to let go before the dargon was defeated. This left Davos with only a partial dragon scar on his chest that looks like a serpent.

Lei Kung found his son weeping in the snow outside Shou-Lao's cave and took him back to K'un-Lun. There he was banished to Earth for all time for his sacrilege. Ever since, he has planned to kill Iron Fist and steal the power that he feels is rightly his own.
