Before Thor was born, Tyr has been valiant defender of Asgard who lost his left hand while binding Fenris, the wolf godn Bitter about Thor's preeminence, Tyr engaged in rebellion against Odin. Subsequently, Tyr fought against Surtur, the fire demon, and Seth, the Heliopolitan God of death, in the defense of Asgard. Because of the events of Ragnarok, Tyr is believed to have suffered the same fate that befell the rest of the Asgardians.
