acotilletta, I approved your Leather Boy article, but in the future avoid putting your opinion in the bios (for example, "Nothing unless being able to withstand basketballs pelted at his head qualifies as a power"). sononsj 01:14, 20 April 2006 (EDT)
Sorry, but I was not trying to put an opinion in there. I was just trying to use a little humor for a character that is far from serious.
No need to apologize. (Actually I did laugh at first). sononsj 16:05, 20 April 2006 (EDT)
Reminds me of the spiderfan.org bios :) cactusrob 16:39, 20 April 2006 (EDT)
Hey Acotilletta, good launch for the Puma, and thanks for catching the dangling sentence I left behind as I was being called for dinner and hastily hit "Save". I had a couple of formatting edits you should note for future profiles. Identity: short and sweet - "Secret" - "Publicly known" - "No dual identity" - if secret, succinctly mentioning who does knows the secret is OK. Groups: no need to list the members of the group. If there's an Outlaws team page someday, it'll list the members. "Spiderman" is spelled "Spider-Man" and when referencing comic issues, use the year (and therefore can drop the oft-confusing "Volume" numbers). In the history section, when Fireheart bought the Bugle, his campaign didn't really do to much to help Spider-Man (it was a bit over the top), and Peter asked him to end the overexposure. So, I cut the part that the public's perception changed. Anyway, glad to see Puma has made the page, he's one of my favorites. --MikeFichera 06:38, 5 May 2006 (EDT), Moderator
Acotilletta, your Outlaws profile slipped past us and has now past it's expiration date where it cannot be marked approved. Sorry about that. Can you resubmit it? Do you still have the text? (If not, let me know). One comment though: read through it again, and make sure your verb tenses are all in the past tense in the history section.--MikeFichera 18:03, 22 May 2006 (EDT)
Thanks for letting me know. I didn't know there was an expiration date on these articles. I have posted it again, and I looked over the verb tenses, and I think I got them all so that it reads the same the whole way through. I guess I will also go back to the older pages I tried to edit, and redo those as well. Thanks again for the help Mike.
For the images, please leave the "Image_not_available.gif" text in the area for image instead of removing it from new profiles you create. This way there is something there instead of a blank with text. --DragynWulf 18:11, 16 June 2006 (EDT)
Sure thing. Sorry about that. Thanks for looking at the entries.
Due to numerous versions of a character, we don't want to list characters with roman numerals. In the Shriek profile you list Carron as Carron II. There are three versions of Carron so please mention which version you are talking about by name instead of roman numeral. Carrion (Malcolm McBride), Carrion (Miles Warren clone) or Carrion (William Allen).
You also mispelt Demogoblin by spelling it DemoGoblin in one area of the profile.
Because of that, I can't approve it. However you are more than welcome to resubmit it after correcting those mistakes.
And for future referance, when making links there is only a need to link to a character once in the history and it should be done when first mentioned. --DragynWulf 21:09, 29 June 2006 (EDT)
For the Persuader profile, where did you get the height/weight stats from?--MikeFichera 01:19, 6 July 2006 (EDT)
I believe from the other website you contribute to, Spiderfan.org.
I wasn't able to approve it because it reached a certain time limit. I was able to check it over though and found no problems with it. Please resubmit it and I will approve it. --DragynWulf 22:05, 7 July 2006 (EDT)
Blume's profile needs to be written in the past tense. It's history, not a current event. --MikeFichera 13:06, 13 July 2006 (EDT)
Okay, sorry. I'll get right on it.
There is nothing wrong with the quality of the images you scanned and uploaded. However because they are not wide enough, the system automatically streches the width of the image to meet the standard 442 width, which then causes the image to become low quality. Feel free to upload the images you have uploaded for the Asgardians, but just place them on a background that has a width of 442 pixels.
Also since the profiles are not long, shortening the height of the images would look better as well instead of having a long image with only one paragraph of History text to scroll down to read.
Images that are 442 (width) x 350 (length) looks better. The length is not required, but as I said, it just looks better. The width is the important thing to remember about images though.
You can find out more information on images in the Image help area. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. --DragynWulf 22:52, 16 July 2006 (EDT)
Acotilletta, I've noticed that your profiles are basically text from the OHotMU, only reworded to look like original text. In the future, please do not do this. It is worse than plagiarizing the writers of the OHotMU.
If you want to take text from the OHotMU, then please feel free and copy it for a profile, but mention your source of information in the Summary area like "text taken from OHotMUDE #12". This way you can be credited for your contribution to the online Encyclopedia while also giving credit to the writers of the Handbooks themselves for doing the research and writing of the profile as well. --DragynWulf 17:43, 28 July 2006 (EDT)
Hey, Dragyn Wulf. Yes you're right, I do take some of the history from OHotMU, but only to cover back history that I do not have since I don't own those comic issues, but there are a lot of profiles that I do write on my own using the comics that I do own that include the first appearance of a character to the present. I usually take pics for those profiles from the issues (whether it be comics or OHotMU) and say what sources I take them from in the summary. I didn't know I had to put where I got the info from in both summary boxes, but will do so from now on. If you would like to check out some of the profiles that I wrote totally on my own (using only comic issues) you can check some entries like Earth Force, Earth Lord, Skyhawk, Wind Warrior, Stardust, Dark Gods, Dinah Soar, In-Betweener (nice pic, by the way), Leather Boy, Monkey Joe, and Tippy Toe. I could name more, but I don't think you want to look over all my entries. If you do, let me know and I'll give you the other bios I've posted. I just feel that a character's history shouldn't be incomplete, and I don't own every single comic ever written. Not to mention the factual stat info on the characters can only come from a handook because I am not recreating a character, but posting what Marvel writer's have already created. I understand you're not saying anything bad, but if you would like me to only use the comic issues I have now for reference, then that's what I'll do, and someone can fill in the earlier histories at a later date. Just let me know. Thanks for your time. --Acotilletta
Just to let you know, you can reply in your own Usertalk page and I will still be able to read it and reply to it here. This way it keeps the topic/conversation in one area instead of numerous pages. I cut and pasted your posting here for that reason.
Onto the topic at hand. I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying. Taking the text and then rewriting it to look like your own text is what this is about. And example of what I am talking about:
OHotMU entry for the Asgardian Sigyn has the following: "The circumstances of Sigyn's marriage to Loki have yet to be revealed. They were estranged for several centuries, and only recently has Sigyn tried to revive their marriage. Sigyn steadfastly aided Loki while he was being punished by Odin, but after Loki regained his freedom he abandoned her".
You took that text, reworded it and made it into the following:
"The marriage of Sigyn and Loki is a mystery waiting to be revealed. However, Sigyn has tried to revive the marriage even though they were separated for many years. While Loki was being punished by Odin, Sigyn stayed by her husband offering help whenever he needed it. Unfortunately for Sigyn, once Loki was freed he deserted her." to look like you did the research about the character when you only changed/reworded what was already there. Just write/copy the text from the OHotMU and site your source instead of changing/rewording the text to look like your own work.
If you don't have an issue to referance, then you don't have the issue. Not everyone is going to have every comic about every character. If you have the OHotMU to referance then you can use it, just list it as your source without rewriting the text to look like your own work. If you don't have other issues or the OHotMU to referance, then let someone else place that in the history at a later time. --DragynWulf 22:04, 28 July 2006 (EDT)
Acotilletta, why did you gut so much valid text from Richard Fisk? It was fine the way it was. Much of the text you removed came straight from All New OHotMU #4. BTW I researched Fisk for the Handbook, and saw no indication that Richard ever married his fiancee, Rebecca, despite several websites listing her as his wife. --MikeFichera 01:05, 30 July 2006 (EDT)
I didn't mean to gut anything. I was looking it over and found some grammatical mistakes and I went to correct it both on the site and my saved text on my hard drive, and I guess when I went to copy and paste it that I pasted the wrong version back onto the site. I know that Rebecca isn't his wife. I just forgot to remove it from my saved document before I pasted what I thought was the "better grammar" entry. I've fixed the problem with my document, now I'll just fix the grammar on the page. Thanks for double checking. I did it so fast that I forgot to do it. Didn't mean to get you confused.
