Centurions post - couple reasons for your post's rejection: "they are now wreaking havoc throughout the Positive Universe" - Text like this does not belong in the Base of Operations. Simple answer - "Negative Zone" Significant Issues: please see other profiles for the proper format All comic issues need the year after the issue number. Use of the word "our" is not appropriate. See other profiles. Profiles are written from the perspective of an impartial historian. Please proofread your grammar. You have run-on sentences, incorrect capitalization, etc. Have someone look it over before submitting if necessary. You have numerous mistakes. --MikeFichera 00:46, 11 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)
Centurions cleared out - Post it again. --MikeFichera 12:00, 11 July 2007 (CDT)(Moderator)
Still not up to snuff. We don't have time to correct every post nor point out the reasons for post-rejections with every post. Here's some hints for Centurions:
Take a look at other profiles for correct formatting. - Warlord Smyt, deceased -- we use (deceased) - Comic issue references - no months, just year - Verb tense: You go back and forth. In history section, use past tense. Example: "He has suddenly evolved into a cold and calculating leader" Should be: " He suddenly evolved into a cold and calculating leader."
- No need for "play-by-plays" - for example: "Ravenous yelled we have come bearing gifts from Lord Annihilus. " (This would've needed quotes anyway.)
-Annihilus link is missing the double end brackets
- Watch excessive commas. "He has gathered 100 super-beings, from the Negative Zone. " If you say it out loud, ask yourself if you pause where the comma is. "He gathered a hundred super-beings from the Negative Zone."
- Watch for run-on sentences. This sentence is a run-on, wrong verb tense (met, not meet), and has spelling errors (led not lead) "The next stop was the Greater Magellanic Cloud, home of the Heralded Kree Empire, the wave meet its first true opposition in the United Front, lead by the last Nova Corps member Richard Rider, also known as Nova."
-Proofread: Read what you've written out loud. You'll catch things like, "the wave came to a halted on the planet of Daedalus 5."
--MikeFichera 22:30, 11 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator) Hey mike I made the changes and posted them. I was wondering if you or anyone else reviewed them. I can see that you are very busy with the handbook, but if you get a chance please let me know. I have resubmitted Syphonn, Aegis (Lady of All Sorrows, and the Centurions. If you can unlock Glorian i have completed it as well.
Not yet - Saw the posts - will review soon. I'll unlock Glorian --MikeFichera 19:00, 15 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)
I just read the first sentence of Centurions, and I know I can't accept this. Read it out loud to yourself and/or have someone proofread your writing. Look back on my previous comments too. "Not normally regarded as a master strategist Annihilus managed to shock the Positive Universe, astonishingly Annihilus has accomplished something of great magnitude he rallied an entire Universe to a single cause. " --MikeFichera 19:09, 15 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)
Read over Warlock (female) - First off, the profile should be Warlock (Janie Chin) since she has a name.
Again, I really do not have time to explain post rejections to every user on this site. Yes, there are posts that have been accepted with poor spelling and grammar - and it's partly due to the fact that folks who've earned their Hero Points can approve their own posts - and it's due to us Mod accepting posts prematurely. I'm not picking on you - in fact, just the opposite - usually I would just delete and move on. But since you seem earnest to understand why your posts are being rejected, I'll give you a complete list of what Warlock was rejected:
Identity: Known as Janie Chin Please see other profiles. Identities are either, typically: Secret, Publicly known, No dual identity, Known to authorities.
Alias: Female Warlock - Was that a name she was called, or she called herself?
Occupation: Character Designer, Savior Of World - Only caps on first word
Known Relatives: Unknown Danny (Boy friend) - Boyfriend is one word, and I hope she's not dating a relative! "Unknown Danny" doesn't make sense
Group Affiliations: The Enclave, Adam Warlock, - Adam's not a group, and you've got an extra comma dangling there.
Abilities: She has the God like abilities of Adam Warlock - lowercase "G" in god - don't think Adam is THAT powerful!
(Warlock No.4, 2005) - See other profiles for formatting. We use the # sign and year in ()
Origin: Unrevealed - Sounds like her origin was revealed in Warlock #4.
College design student Janie Chin's dream came true. She signed on as the character designer for a super-hero feature film shoot, in the jungles of Costa Perdita. Billed to "Beehive Productions" and centered on a hero created by a group of Utopian scientists and his salvation of a world on the brink, this dream gig quickly turned into a shocking nightmare. this was no film production. It is the real thing.
"She signed on as the character designer for a super-hero feature film shoot, in the jungles of Costa Perdita." No comma after "shoot."
"a world on the brink" - of what? Brink of destruction? Brink of celebration? Rearranging the sentence, would you say the gig was billed to Beehive? The gig was centered on a hero? No, you'd say the film was billed, the film was centered.
"this was no film production." - Capitalize "T" No cap on Utopian.
"Morlak, Zota and Shinski, the scientist of the Enclave," Who are these 3? Is the reader supposed to know? Are they "the scientist" or is he a fourth character?
"The scientist used their genius to create a cocoon," Singular pronoun: "The scientist used his (or her) genius..." or Plural pronouns: "The scientists used their genius..."
"This new savior was merciless in his ways, to cure the ills of the planet." no comma after ways
"This new savior was merciless in his ways, ...Janie pleaded with him to change his ways." redundant phrase "his ways"
"but fared not better " awkward - suggest "but fared worse"
"She realized that people would keep killing each other without guns or bombs." - don't see a clear transition - who said anything about guns and bombs?
We're looking for a professional level of writing on this site. --MikeFichera 17:11, 18 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)
There were still more errors I didn't list above, but I have to move on. I just approved it and fixed them myself - that's not standard mod policy. You have place of birth as "The jungles of Costa Perdita" - did it say that in the comics somewhere, or was it just speculated? If not, place of birth is coming out. How did she want to "cure the planet" - of Earth's societal breakdown?--MikeFichera 06:47, 19 July 2007 (CDT) (Moderator)
I looked at your Starforce profile and made some fixes. I sent it to you in a PM so you can resubmit. Here is what I found wrong (I am by no means an expert so if someone sees a flaw with my thinking please let me know).
"You had Supremor spelled two different ways so I fixed it for you. These names will always get popped on a spell search. Instead of just hitting the ignore button you should check to make sure it is spelled correctly each time it gets popped. I found out that a Dr.'s profile should read Doctor(at least thats what the elders have told me...LOL), as in Doctor Strange, so I changed your link to go to Doctor Minerva. Your headshot is blurred with writing so they may not approve it for that reason alone. I linked up characters in the bibliography, no one has told me not to and I think a profile should have as many links as it can so people can learn more about the Marvel Universe. Only the issues year released should be in parenthesis unless you write a brief description first so I changed that as well. Remember always to open another window and search all names you have linked up, especially those in red. You dont want your link going to a different page if its already been created."
Do not expect me to do this for every profile you submit. You come across as really wanting to know/learn how to do this, so I do not mind trying to teach what little I know. Good luck on your future submissions. - --mickeys4life 13:41, 27 July 2007 (CDT)
Has anyone took a look at these profiles yet?--ohitsme 10:51, 8 October 2007 (CDT)
Hey could some one edit the information on my user page? I jacked it up pretty.--ohitsme 18:07, 5 November 2007 (CST)
yeah. Did you want the teambox or the user box as the powerbox? _Iron_man_ 18:31, 5 November 2007 (CST)
Hey, I want the user box. Thanks Iron Man.--ohitsme 18:40, 5 November 2007 (CST)
I thought you had self approval rights ohitsme? - --mickeys4life 20:09, 5 November 2007 (EST)
It appears that I might have them as of a few minutes ago Mickey. I have no idea how they really work. So I am guessing that I have to resubmit the profiles in my contributions that have not been approved or is there a button that I need to use? You might have to PM me the answer.--ohitsme 19:29, 5 November 2007 (CST)
Make sure you watch the pages of your submissions. After you save and submit your bio/changes go to your watchlist. If you selected to watch then it will appear on this page with (this revision) highlighted in parenthesis. Click that and it will take you to your submission...at the top right corner there will be a link that says approve this revision. Click that and it is approved. Just double check everything is right first. ---mickeys4life 10:55, 18 November 2007 (EST)
Hey ohitsme. Congrats on getting approval rights for your bio contributions. I just wanted to tell you one thing though, if you don't mind. The pictures that you upload for the bios are very grainy and I didn't know if that was the quality of your scanner of camera or if you weren't uploading them in the proper size. I had this same problem when I first started uploading pics, and Dragyn Wulf told me to upload pictures that were 442 x 442 pixels. I just figured I would let you so you can get the best quality images for your profiles, so the all around look of them is nicer too. -- acotilletta
Thanks for the tip, I have made the changes to the images on my computer, but I am unable to up load them to this site. Am I the only one having this problem or is there a problem with the board?--ohitsme 10:06, 22 November 2007 (CST)
I wouldn't know. The last pic I tried to upload did so without a problem. Keep trying. -- acotilletta
I just tried again no luck yet. I will keep trying until I get them straight.--ohitsme 00:43, 23 November 2007 (CST)
I just wanted to mention this before you do more those Ultraverse bios. You should list them only with their Earth designation there is no need for the name of the universe. I don't know why you added it in the first place when most of the other bios are labeled with the designation or the universe name. The rule here is that those bios should be listed by their earth designation as it is one of the simplest ways to arrange them. They try to get away from the universe name naming as some of the realities don't have a name but all of them have a designation. --Wezqu 05:06, 12 December 2007 (CST)
I just wanted to remind you about this rule as you made Spirit of Vengeance and Galactic Guardians bios that are from alternate universe and should be really listed with the earth designation. As this group and character never visited main universe frequently they should be listed with the designation. Martinex is only exception as he has visited Earth-616 in the past. Also don't link Earth-616 characters to bios where their alternate self has been the one doing those stuff. As Firelord or Wonder Man of Earth-616 has not been a member of Galactic Guardians. --Wezqu 06:52, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
"During her addition with the Taskmaster" - what are you trying to say here? Addition? --MikeFichera 16:11, 22 December 2007 (CST)
Thanks Mike the text should read audition not addition. I missed that in my proofreading. If you did not correct it I will right away.--ohitsme 17:21, 22 December 2007 (CST)
Exodus. Goddess. Midnight Sun. Now Sil. "cultistmated" ? "she is remarkable nimble" ? If you don't improve in your proofreading before you post, Marvel is going to revoke your Hero Points. We're spending too much time correcting your posts. --MikeFichera 08:48, 24 December 2007 (CST)
I understand you clearly Mike, I will make sure to throughly proofread my post from this point forward. I will go through all my previous post and correct any mistakes. Merry Christmas. --ohitsme 09:36, 24 December 2007 (CST)
Got word from my boss - no Ultraverse art. I know Marvel bought Ultraverse from Malibu, but there are still legalities about the use of the characters. They can be mentioned in terms of historical text - but no artwork. --MikeFichera 20:06, 6 January 2008 (CST)
I had no idea that there was a problem, Thanks Mike. --ohitsme 23:24, 6 January 2008 (CST)
I wasn't angry at all, more confused than anything else. The only real way I can think of deleting it is either ask a moderator to do that or to simply make a redirect page. I think asking a mod would be better. Keep Up the good work.--mimicx35 21:18, 9 January 2008 (CST)
Are you having any problems approving your changes? I've been gone for several months and now that I'm back, I'm having problems getting it to "accept" my changes. It says they're approved, but the "!" doesn't get removed from the "Recent Changes" page. I'm guessing it's a bug, but I haven't seen anyone else post about it. I sent a message to Pete already, but I thought I'd check with you as well. --Lonesome Pinky 17:27, 10 January 2008 (CST)
Yes, it's been an ongoing problem. The guys at Marvel have been swamped with getting Marvelkids.com and other projects off the ground. It's making it very difficult for us to mod when you can't tell what's approved and what's not - We just patience while other stuff needs to take priority. --MikeFichera 20:55, 17 January 2008 (EST)
Thanks for writing back. I figured Pete was busy when he didn't respond to my personal message. :) It's no big deal. At first I thought maybe my self-approval privilege had been revoked, but after I succeeded a few times, I knew that wasn't the case. I went ahead and made a bunch of small changes, but I was concerned that they'd get undone when they rolled off the Recent Changes list. Fortunately, that hasn't happened thus far. --Lonesome Pinky 22:47, 22 January 2008 (EST)
Posts like Googam are below the minimal amount needed for a post. The stat box and headshot are fine, but you have to write some content about who this character is, even if it's a few sentences and the profile is stamped as a stub. There were a flood of posts done by Marvel in-house over the summer that were sub-stub, but Users will not receive Hero Points for submitting less than the minimal amount. We would accept no headshot, some history, and some stat box info as a stub.--MikeFichera 21:00, 17 January 2008 (EST)
I am about to leave for the weekend Mike but as soon as I get to a computer, I will add the content to the stubs that I have put up. --ohitsme 22:46, 17 January 2008 (EST)
Great! Thanks! --MikeFichera 00:10, 18 January 2008 (EST)
You could check if there is disambiguation page before you post a bio on the site. As now you posted Jinx and there is three different Jinx's in the comics and it already has a disambiguation page done. You can still fix it by posting it in the right place and making the main page as a redirect. --Wezqu 03:14, 28 January 2008 (CST)
OK Wezqu I moved the bio info., but I have no idea hot to create a redirect. BTW, I used the official Arcana Handbook link to create the post. It might help if when you create the disambiguation page you could connect the HB to the correct person, that it wont be so complicated. --ohitsme 09:31, 28 January 2008 (CST)
I did the redirect just now so its done. I would not trust the links in OHOTMU page as many of them are not even going to the right place. Those links most of the time go to the wrong place as the moderator who makes the page just adds the links and doesn't check if they really should go some other place. Also I can't change those links as I'm just a user those OHOTMU pages are protected so that only moderator can fix them. There has been several mistakes like these just because those OHOTMU pages. I quessed that this was once again one of those cases. For example in the Spider-Man: Back in Black bibliography page Grizzly link links to disambiguation page as there is several other characters. If that redirect would not be there someone might make the page under Grizzly when in reality it should go under the Grizzly (Maxwell Markham). Your idea is not bad but as the main page shoul redirect to the character who is now active with the alias and there is some characters with the alias that doesn't anymore use the alias or are dead. One most confusing case would be Mysterio as there is three of them two of them are still alive and the third is dead but still active as he is agent for some other highly powerful character. the newest of them got a bio in the new Spider-Man handbook and link on that page goes to the main alias page but as he is not the most known Mysterio the page doesn't link with his bio and it should not anyway. Now it links to the disambiguation page as there is several active characters. Usually I don't do the redirects but I'm not really responsible if the moderators make the page and doesn't check if there might be some other characters using the alias. --Wezqu 09:55, 28 January 2008 (CST)
Thanks for the clarity, I will keep this in mind and check things through before making my next post. Hey if you have some time today I have a few post that need Main images, if you could me out I would appreciate it. --ohitsme 10:07, 28 January 2008 (CST)-
I do have time just tell me what characters you need images. Its not really about the time for me more like if I'm in the mood of doing some picture editing as its not so fast when you want them to look as good as possible. I had to do some color editing with the Equinox picture as the magazine it was took from was quite old. --Wezqu 10:29, 28 January 2008 (CST)
Just to point out I was not the one who made that disambiguation page it was made by jstephens. He is/was working for Marvel and did several pages to this site. Mostly those that have little information or are in wrong place. As I said on my opinion Damballah link was going to the wrong place as its not the alias he mostly used or is known. As the Zombie handbook shows. That guy is not really this sites regular moderator he just did some things on the site many of witch didn't even go by the rules. Because of him there is still several mistakes on the site that these regular moderators have to fix. For example that Damballah profile being under the wrong alias. --Wezqu 16:28, 11 February 2008 (EST)
I see that I have possibly rub you the wrong way again. Once again it is not my intention, I actually followed your eariler suggestion and placed the bio in the existing disambiguation link. My first instinct was to make a new profile for Damballah. Since it appears that we both see the need to correct the problem why don't we make a redirect or something with the correct title and information? --ohitsme 17:39, 11 February 2008 (CST)--ohitsme 17:39, 11 February 2008 (CST)
I didn't take it personally just wanted you to know that I didn't do the page. Also I would have corrected it if I would have noticed that the link went to that page. Well you could do that as you were the one who made the bio. Just add it to the right place that would be Damballah (Dan-Ayido-Hwedo) as thats his name. I will add the redirect then if you don't know how to do it. --Wezqu 20:11, 11 February 2008 (EST)
Sorry to bother you again just noticed that I made a writing mistake in the name it should be Dam-Ayido-Hwedo. Stupid mistake on my part. You can put it to the right place if you want or leave it to the moderators to correct in the future. --Wezqu 04:35, 12 February 2008 (EST)
Hey Wezqu Good Morning, I hope you can stand some good news this morning, the spelling is exactly right. That is why I went ahead and posted it yesterday. The handbook says that his real name is Dan-Ayido-Hwedo, until we find a comic that says something different I say we leave it up to the Moderators to make a decision. --ohitsme 09:19, 12 February 2008 (CST)
lol (not laughing at you). Ok, just have to correct the bio you posted because there its Dam-Ayido-Hwedo and thats why I though it was wrong. --Wezqu 12:06, 12 February 2008 (EST)
I know, it was all very confusing. I followed the Damballah which led there, I noticed that it was and is the right character and went from there. Dam-Ayido is listed as one of his aliases, which any one of them correct in a way because it all reffers to the same guy. --ohitsme 11:28, 12 February 2008 (CST)
When you upload images to the site make sure you will only upload those that you use on the bios as pictures usually take a lot of space. When you upload unnecesery pictures on the site you just waste space. Also those images usually get deleted as they are not used. Just wanted to mention this so you will make sure that you only upload those pictures that you use. Now for example the site has three or four pictures of Gaunt that it isn't using and are just wasting space and some of them are too similar to each other to even be added to the bio page. --Wezqu 14:28, 10 March 2008 (EDT)
Why did you put Celestial One Above All under the main link as nobody should be under the main page when there is several characters. I also removed Earth-691's Protege as I'm not sure he ever used the One Above All alias that would let him to be listed. Also if he would be listed he should be listed as alternate universe character section not among the main universe characters. Also descriptions of the characters should be short and not over five lines more and the names for the characters should be also short not like five words. Just thought you might need some advice on the disambiguation rules. --Wezqu 14:07, 26 May 2008 (EDT)
Thanks Wezqu, I am not well versed in doing disambiguation pages or the rules, so your help is greatly appreciated. As far as Protege goes. he did use the alias of the One Above All, although it was just for one issues. As the One Above All, he battled the Living Tribunal. Any idea on how to correct the One Above All (celestial) being connected to the main page?--ohitsme 15:28, 26 May 2008 (EDT)
I see that you are trying to communicate with me, however, there was no message left. --ohitsme 14:27, 7 June 2008 (EDT)
Just wanted to tell you that the four other symbiote characters that were from the Life Foundation team has not used any alias than their real names. Only Donna Diego has used an alias Scream in Marvel Comics. Riot and the other names for the symbiotes were invented by toy company that made action figures out of them. Marvel Comics doesn't use them and only the Scream alias has been adopted for the Donna Diego character the other names aren't usable before they are seen in some Marvel magazine. Now they can be only refered by the characters real name not with any aliases as they aren't been used by Marvel. --Wezqu 17:12, 13 October 2008 (EDT)
Just wanted to ask if you could move the Red King bio you made as there is another character that have used the alias. It should be under Red King (Angmo II) just asking this as there really is no other edits than yours on it and so it would not screw up the contributions if you move it yourself. --Wezqu 20:33, 25 December 2008 (EST)
Not a problem Wezqu, I have moved the bio as requested and I went ahead to create the Red King (disambiguation) page. Please feel free to go ahead an make any needed modifications to the page.--ohitsme 04:45, 26 December 2008 (EST)
Just pointing out that there is two characters that have used the alias Ereshkigal. The Deviant that you posted and the real Mesopotamian death goddess thats form she uses. The real goddess has been seen in one comic so far when several death gods were trying to merge their realms. There is a disambiguation page about them also. --Wezqu 01:54, 30 December 2008 (CST)
Hey Ohitsme, I notice whenever you create new bios you just cite them as created in the summary. I was just wondering where you find the info from like the Mikaboshi profile because I have been looking for another appearance of that character since I saw him in the Incredible Hercules series. I'm just asking out of curiosity, in case I want to read a back issue or two that spotlight the characters you put on this site. I tried to check the significant issues, but you didn't have any listed. Thanks. -- acotilletta
Sorry Acotilletta, the source of the Mikaboshi profile was the OHOTMU UNIVERSE HARDCOVER #1 (2008). I apologize but I got sleepy and new that I would be completing the profile today. My intentions was just to get the background info up. He is listed under the Amatsu-Kami.--ohitsme 07:25, 7 March 2009 (EST)
No need to be sorry. I just wanted to pick up another story with the character in it because they made references to other evil deeds he had done in the Incredible Hercules book, and he didn't get much face time in that storyline. I thought that maybe you knew what other issues he might have appeared in since you made the profile. Thanks for answering. -- acotilletta
Well here is what I have been able to dig up; Thor: Blood Oath #6 (2005); Ares #2- 'Ares: God of War, Part 2-5 (2006); Incredible Hercules #117-120 'Secret Invasion: Part 1-4 (2008). I hope this helps.--ohitsme 08:22, 7 March 2009 (EST)
