5 Facts About Black Bolt
Read about the quiet power of Black Bolt.
A monarch with a voice that kills—literally—Black Bolt reigns supreme over other Inhuman blue bloods. The Inhumans’ king sat comfortably atop the Attilan hierarchy for years, though his rise to greatness had its fair share of tumultuous ventures. Below, we take a quick peak at some Black Bolt fun facts.
In the Beginning...
The son of Attilan’s top geneticists, Blackagar Boltagon gained monumental powers at birth following exposure to Terrigen mists while still in his mother’s womb. The most prominent of these rested in his voice that could unleash sonic fury. Unable to control his abilities as an infant, Black Bolt spent the first 19 years of his life in isolation.
Rise to Power
Black Bolt didn’t skip a beat once he joined society. Just a short month into his new life outside isolation, the young man learned of his brother’s treasonous relationship with the hated Kree. Bolt stepped in, using his forbidden sonic powers to thwart the villainous schemes and assume his destiny as ruler.
Hail to the King
As ruler of the Inhumans, Black Bolt along with his super powered family face countless cases of cosmic calamity on the daily. Of course, this coincides with the normal drama that anyone has on their plate. When even your dog, Lockjaw, has almost unmatched powers, these normal familial issues tend to elevate.
Power-Packed
We’ve already established that Black Bolt’s quasi-sonic scream packs a punch. This shouldn’t eclipse his other powers, however, which make the word “impressive” a gross understatement. He can manipulate matter and energy, and when you put into perspective what just about everything, ever, consists of, that’s not too shabby.
Frenemies
Being the leader of the Inhumans comes with a disturbingly long list of crises that constantly tests your loyalty and moral code. This has allowed Black Bolt to develop a bunch of relationships that have to remain of the casual persuasion. While the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and even Ronan have partnered up with Bolt and company, calling them “friends” will always be a stretch.
