The symbiote scene in question comes in the pages of VENOM #4—a crucial early issue in Cates and series artist Ryan Stegman's ongoing landmark run with Eddie Brock.
In the mag, an ancient Klyntar awakened on Earth, and with it, something else stirred in Eddie’s own symbiote. And while Venom would never do anything to hurt Eddie or an innocent person, the ancient symbiote had other ideas...
So, does this issue tie-in to VENOM: DARK ORIGINS #4? A single issue that came out over ten years ago? No way, right?
Well, Ryan quickly got in touch with Cates and found out straight from the source... "Yup! It is," says Cates. "It's the same little creature we see in the flashback from DARK ORIGIN!"
