Earth's Mightiest Show Presents 5 Patriotic Comics to Read on Independence Day

Salute July 4 with Captain America, Falcon, Captain Marvel, and more!

Captain Langston

Earth's Mightiest Show is off this week to celebrate Independence Day, but that doesn't mean you can't join in the fun! Marvel Comics have always had a taste for the patriotic -- Captain America is pretty star-spangled evidence of that! But throughout its 80 years, Marvel has produced many patriotic comics featuring heroes who served their countries in more ways than one and fought for the rights of others to live freely. Here are a few flag-waving issues you can read right now on Marvel Unlimited!

GENERATIONS: SAM WILSON CAPTAIN AMERICA & STEVE ROGERS CAPTAIN AMERICA 1 (2017) #1

What's better than one Captain America? Two of them! Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson both wield the shield -- with some help from Bucky Barnes -- in this one-shot by Nick Spencer and Paul Renaud, spinning a timely, patriotic yarn.

CAPTAIN MARVEL (2012) #2

What's more patriotic than Rosie the Riveter? That's who Captain Marvel is invoking on this classic cover of Kelly Sue DeConnick's iconic run. And Carol Danvers is more than worthy of paying homage to a symbol of women who are up for a challenge.

When the tough get going, Misty Knight takes things into her own bionic hands! The former cop and Daughter of the Dragon carries the shield in this issue by Spencer and Renaud.

CAPTAIN AMERICA (2018) #1

It would be downright treasonous to not include a Steve Rogers solo story. (Okay, maybe "treasonous" is a strong word. We'll go with "rude.") Make sure to read the first issue of the current CAPTAIN AMERICA run written by Ta-Nehisi Coates with art by Leinil Francis Yu. It's the perfect place to start reading comics featuring the original shield-slinging Sentinel of Liberty!
