Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur's Greatest Hits (So Far)
Celebrate Moon Girl's 10th anniversary by revisiting ten of Lunella Lafayette's greatest comic book moments!
Despite still being in elementary school, Lunella Lafayette has proven herself to be the smartest person in the Marvel Universe. Through her escapades with her prehistoric pal, Devil Dinosaur, and her arsenal of inventions and gadgets, the Inhuman super-genius has already faced some of the Marvel Universe's most dangerous foes. In doing so, she's left a lasting impression on heroes like the Fantastic Four and the Avengers.
After adventuring across the Marvel Universe for a decade, Moon Girl is finally getting ready to turn 10 years old. Alongside Devil Dinosaur, some of Marvel's greatest heroes have joined the birthday festivities in MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR 10th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL (2025) #1 by Brandon Montclare, Justina Ireland, Natacha Bustos, and Luca Claretti. Let's celebrate Moon Girl's birthday by looking back at her greatest moments and most impressive accomplishments so far.

MEETING DEVIL DINOSAUR
Thanks to her vast intelligence, Lunella Lafayette was always more interested in tinkering with her latest inventions than making friends. However, she got one nonetheless when Devil Dinosaur stepped into her world in MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR (2015) #1 by Brandon Montclare, Amy Reeder, and Natacha Bustos.
While trying to figure out how to stop her genetic Inhuman abilities from activating, Lunella found the Omni-Wave Projector, a Kree alien device that could create portals. One of her coaches twirled the orb, accidentally opening a portal that brought Devil Dinosaur from his prehistoric reality to the Marvel Universe.
After the Devil-Beast took an immediate liking to Lunella, she suited up as Moon Girl for the first time to recover the Omni-Wave Projector from the aggressive Killer-Folk, villains from Devil Dinosaur's world.

DEVIL DINOSAUR BODY SWAP
Despite her fears, Moon Girl was eventually exposed to the Terrigen Mists, which activated her Inhuman abilities in MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR (2015) #7 by Brandon Montclare, Amy Reeder, and Marco Failla. When she emerged from the cocoon created by the Terrigen Mists, Lunella discovered she had not gone through any kind of physical transformation.
However, Lunella soon realized she had developed the ability to swap minds with Devil Dinosaur during a full moon. While Devil Dinosaur's mind made Moon Girl act feral in the middle of class, her mind took control of the dinosaur's gigantic body. With her unique intelligence still intact, Lunella figured out how to communicate through her dinosaur body until the mind-swap naturally ended and the pair returned to normal.

SOLVING THE BANNER BOX
Despite her youth, Moon Girl has always been the smartest person in the room, but no one truly recognized that until MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR (2015) #12. During his time as the Totally Awesome Hulk, Amadeus Cho—a super-genius himself—met Lunella and realized she was also a genius.
To test her mental might, Amadeus gave her the Banner B.O.X., a seemingly impossible puzzle designed by Bruce Banner. Although the puzzle stumped super-geniuses like its creator and Mister Fantastic, Lunella solved it within a few seconds. When Amadeus saw this, he declared Lunella to be the smartest person in the world, a mantle she vigorously embraced and defended.

DOOMBOT TAKEOVER
As word of Moon Girl's intelligence spread around the Marvel Universe, one of Doctor Doom's Doombots set his sights on proving his intellectual superiority to the young genius. Believing himself to be the real Doom, the Doombot began harassing Lunella in MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR (2015) #14.
With help from the Thing, Doctor Strange, Ironheart, and the X-Men, Moon Girl faced the Doombot and foiled his schemes. After Old Man Logan tore his head off, Lunella took the Doombot, which she called Doom-Head. As the talkative robot became a fixture in her secret lab, Moon Girl reprogrammed the Doombot to create the Moonbots, robotic duplicates that could pose as Lunella in her civilian life.

MONSTERS UNLEASHED
When giant monsters began terrorizing Earth, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur stepped up to help solve the planet-wide crisis starting in MONSTERS UNLEASHED (2017) #1 by Cullen Bunn and David Baldeón. As the Leviathon Mother called her Leviathon Tide to attack, Lunella developed a device that could translate the various shrieks and howls of the beasts into English.
As the Leviathon Tide inadvertently revealed their coordinated attack plans, Lunella made fast friends with Kid Kaiju, a young Inhuman with the power to summon Devil Dinosaur and other giant beasts that were not part of the Leviathon attack. Although heroes like the Avengers and the X-Men ultimately fought off the monsters, Lunella successfully encouraged the sidelined Kid Kaiju to jump into battle in the final charge against the Leviathon Tide.

JOINING THE SECRET WARRIORS
Despite her initial hesitation to embrace her powers, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur joined a team of Inhuman heroes in SECRET WARRIORS (2017) #1 by Matthew Rosenberg and Javier Garron. After an imposter Steve Rogers and Hydra took over the United States, Quake (Daisy Johnson)—an Inhuman S.H.I.E.L.D. agent—recruited Moon Girl, Devil Dinosaur, Ms. Marvel, Karnak, and Inferno for her secret squad.
When she got captured, Lunella used her brain-swapping abilities with Devil Dinosaur to alert the team to a massive Inhuman prison at New Attilan. After helping the team kick Hydra out of the city, Moon Girl struck the final blow against Mister Sinister, a mutant villain who wanted to use Inhumans in his cruel experiments.

SAVING MOON BOY
Long before Devil Dinosaur befriended Moon Girl, the dinosaur had Moon-Boy, an unusually intelligent caveman-like mutant from his primitive homeworld. Just before Devil Dinosaur was transported to Earth, the Killer Folk mortally wounded Moon Boy as he attempted to stop them from using the Nightstone. Fortunately, Moon Girl used the Omni-Wave Projector to travel back in time and rescue her prehistoric pal's old best friend in MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR (2015) #23.
Even though she didn't want to split up with her dinosaur partner, Lunella took him back to his homeworld for his own good. As a result, Devil Dinosaur stopped the Killer Folk from killing Moon-Boy, but he still tried to follow Lunella when she went back to Earth alone.

ASSEMBLING THE FANTASTIC THREE
Since Lunella lived on Yancy Street in New York, the Thing became one of the first heroes who embraced and befriended her. During a time when the Fantastic Four had split up, Moon Girl brought the Thing and the Human Torch together as the Fantastic Three in MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR (2015) #27.
Thanks to a warning from a benevolent Galactus and Silver Surfer, Lunella and the veteran heroes learned the Super-Skrull planned to open portals and bring the reality-consuming Omnipotentis to Earth. After reuniting with Devil Dinosaur, Moon Girl and her new teammates destroyed the Skrull's machines and came face-to-face with one of the most powerful beings in existence. Following this, Lunella and her dinosaur left the group and resumed their adventures as a duo.

BEATING WILSON FISK'S WRECKING CREW
As the Kingpin, Wilson Fisk pushed heroes like Spider-Man and Daredevil to their absolute limits—but when the then-mayor enrolled his adopted daughter, Princess, in Lunella's school, Moon Girl got the upper hand on the criminal mastermind starting in MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR (2015) #32.
While Fisk made plans to shut down the school, Lunella briefly turned Devil Dinosaur into a human boy named Devin and brought him to class, which infuriated Princess. As Moon Girl faced off against the Wrecking Crew and dealt with Devin's transformation back into a dinosaur, Princess tried to one-up her heroic classmate. However, Princess ultimately foiled her father's plans and helped Lunella save their school.

JOINING AVENGERS ACADEMY
When Captain Marvel reopened Avengers Academy, Moon Girl joined a new class of young heroes in AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) #1 by Anthony Oliveira and Carola Borelli. Along with Devil Dinosaur, Moon Girl and her allies faced threats like the villainous Squid Kid, her nemesis and fellow young genius.
With help from Shuri, Lunella created Lunellium, a new unbreakable metal alloy that can resist magic, and used it to make a new shield for Captain America of the Railways (Aaron Fischer). She also formed a tight bond with Normie Osborn and briefly wielded his Rascal symbiote. Although her knowledge made her feel like an outcast amongst her peers, Moon Girl found a home in Avengers Academy, where she stands with the best of the next generation of Marvel heroes.

Celebrate Lunella's birthday with MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR 10th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL (2025) #1 and be sure to stay tuned to AVENGERS ACADEMY: MARVEL VOICES INFINITY COMIC (2024) to keep up with her latest adventures!
