'Phoenix' #11 Ignites a New Arc Marked by a Miraculous Return

Jean Grey's cosmic adventures continue in May with 'Phoenix' #11. New series artist Roi Mercado and new series cover artist Lucas Werneck join writer Stephanie Phillips for an all-new story arc that kicks off with a shocking return.

The power of the Phoenix has never burned brighter! Since Stephanie Phillips and Alessandro Miracolo's PHOENIX launched last year, Jean Grey has been reborn as the cosmic super hero she was destined to be! As the galaxy’s prime protector, Jean has tapped into the uppermost limits of her abilities in reality-shaking battles against Perrikus, Thanos, and the Dark Gods, all while struggling to hold onto her humanity.

Her greatest test comes this May in PHOENIX #11, with the return of someone so close to Jean's heart, it’ll cause her to question her entire purpose as Phoenix. The start of an all-new arc, PHOENIX #11 also marks the exciting debut of new series artist Roi Mercado, a recent participant of the Marvel Art Atelier training program in Disneyland Paris, and features the first cover by the series’ new cover artist, superstar talent Lucas Werneck.

LIFE AND DEATH AMONG THE STARS!

The universe faces a great imbalance! A fracturing! A coming death… and the only one who can stand in its way is the PHOENIX! But that’s not all… Jean Grey’s calling to space and responsibility to the galaxy becomes suddenly, critically personal with the return of a long-lost loved one—whose presence will throw everything Jean knows into total chaos!

"Working on this book has been an incredible experience and I can't wait for you all to read the next chapter in Jean's journey," Phillips shared. "We're going bigger and more ambitious, continuing to ramp up the action and maybe have an unexpected reunion or two among the stars. This new arc will be cosmic and intense - pushing Jean in ways that surprise everyone... including her."

In the coming months, fans can also look forward to seeing influential creator and former Marvel Comics Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada’s iconic artwork on some of Marvel’s hottest titles, starting with a variant cover for PHOENIX #11 in May. Quesada’s dynamic cover depicts Jean Grey in her beloved Marvel Girl costume, a throwback to simpler times as Jean currently traverses the stars as a cosmic hero.
