Marvel Studios' Black Panther star Angela Bassett and the late Steve Ditko, the iconic artist behind Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, will join the 2024 class of Disney Legends this summer at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
During the Disney Legends Ceremony on Sunday, August 11, Bassett and Ditko will be inducted to the Disney Legends Class of 2024 alongside other such illustrious members as director James Cameron, composer John Williams, Harrison Ford, Jamie Lee Curtis, Miley Cyrus, and Frank Oz. The full list of inductees is available below. The star-studded ceremony, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, will conclude D23's festivities.
Across Black Panther and Marvel Studios' Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Bassett played Queen Ramonda, the mother of T'Challa and Shuri and the sovereign leader of Wakanda. Her performance in Wakanda Forever earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2023.
As one of the architects of the Marvel Universe, Ditko left a massive impact on the industry through his poignant storytelling and unique art style. Additionally, he brought the characters of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange to life alongside Stan Lee, among other fan-favorite Marvel characters.
The Disney Legends Ceremony takes place Sunday, August 11 at 5 pm PT at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
