Clint Barton Rejoins the Avengers with Hawkeye's Arrival on 'Marvel's Avengers' on March 18

With a present in peril and a future destroyed, Clint aims to stop the end of the world in 'Operation: Hawkeye - Future Imperfect.'

Today, Square Enix announced that Marvel’s Avengers launches on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles on March 18 alongside the second new playable Super Hero for the game: Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, the unmatched archer with unerring precision. Players who own the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of the game can upgrade to the full next-gen version at no additional cost* and transfer their save game to keep their progress.

Clint Barton will bring his unique talents to the game’s roster as part of Marvel’s Avengers Operation: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect at no cost to owners of the core game on all platforms. In addition to a new playable Super Hero and the new chapter in the game’s ongoing Avengers Initiative story, Marvel’s Avengers Operation: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect also introduces a powerful new villain: Maestro, a version of Hulk with Bruce Banner’s brains and the Hulk’s strengths and abilities, now driven mad in an apocalyptic future.

Future Imperfect’s story picks up in the wake of Clint Barton’s protégé Kate Bishop’s Operation, Taking AIM and can be played solo or with up to three friends to deliver the ultimate Super Hero experience. Players will learn more about Hawkeye’s quest to find Nick Fury, leader of SHIELD, who he believed could help stop the rise of AIM. What he uncovered instead was a dangerous new weapon being built by Scientist Supreme Monica Rappaccini that could change the fate of humanity. Along the way, Clint finds himself wrapped up in a time-bending experiment, journeying to a future Earth, known as the Wasteland, destroyed by cosmic forces and inhabited by Maestro, an older, twisted version of Hulk who is as smart as he is strong.

The lead-up to Future Imperfect began with Marvel’s Avengers Operation: Kate Bishop – Taking AIM, which launched on December 8. In Taking AIM, Kate Bishop, master archer and skilled gymnast, resurfaced after her investigation of Nick Fury’s disappearance following A-Day led to Hawkeye going missing as well. As she unraveled the mystery behind the sudden appearance of time-warping Tachyon Rifts, she uncovered a twisted new plan from AIM, which pushed her to work with the Avengers once again. Operation Hawkeye: Future Imperfect marks Chapter 2 of Season One, where we continue diving into the consequences of the Tachyon Project and come face to face with a possible future where all hope is lost.

Clint’s bow skills are second to none in the Marvel Universe, making him a powerful melee and ranged hero. Clint is the steadfast hunter, taking down his foes with powerful, precise hits one at a time until he’s the only one left standing. Clint’s Quick Reflex Intrinsic Ability allows him to sidestep enemy attacks and parry with a fast-staggering bow shot. His Dead Eye Skill allows him to focus his aim on a single target, increasing damage and reaction with razor arrows. With Ranger’s Momentum, snap to targets instantly and zero-in on weak points.

Clint’s ranged arsenal makes him a one-man-army with many different unique arrow types.

  • Grapple Arrows let Clint traverse the environment with ease and is also an intrinsic heavy attack, reeling into enemies before slashing them with his sword
  • Boomerang Arrows seek out targets before returning
  • Implosion Arrows cluster enemies together or draw them away from you
  • Tripwire Arrows stagger weaker enemies and push back larger foes with a spread of projectiles tethered together with energy
  • Parry enemies with Rocket Arrows, which attach to targets, sending them airborne
  • Pulsar Arrows attach to surfaces and build up energy before exploding. The more they build up, the bigger the boom!

Clint’s Heroics are themselves three different arrow types. His Assault Heroic uses Nightstorm Arrows: launch it into the air and rain down projectiles to decimate areas of the battlefield. Just as important, his Recovery Arrow Support Heroic unleashes nanobots that swarm nearby allies and restore their willpower. The Hunter’s Arrow Ultimate Heroic is an AI guided projectile that flits across the battlefield, piercing through targets. Once upgraded, fire two at once, add explosive charges, or focus damage on player-targeted foes. Count on Hunter's Arrow to dish out an aerial assault with damage equal to a fleet of arrows, punishing enemies all over the fight no matter who Clint has in his sights.

And for when you want to get up close and personal with enemies, take out Clint’s katana to dish out powerful melee damage.

Like Kate, Clint comes with loads of outfits and emotes to express himself.  For more details on Clint's skillset and upcoming cosmietics, head over to the PlayStation Blog!
