RISE OF APOCALYPSE
by Terry Kavanagh and Adam Pollina
Before he revealed his revolutionary plans in the pages of X-FACTOR, this historic mini-series revealed that En Sabah Nur (a.k.a. “The Chosen One”) was born over 5,000 years ago in ancient Egypt, where he developed his brutal belief in the “survival of the fittest.”
The Further Adventures Of Cyclops & Phoenix
By Scott Lobdell and Gene Ha
Leaping forward to the 19th Century, this mini-series showcases how En Sabah Nur transformed geneticist Nathaniel Essex into the malicious Mister Sinister, who in turn would have a large hand in the creation of Apocalypse’s archenemy, the chronal crossing Cable. Time travel is tricky!
X-Factor
X-FACTOR #1, X-FACTOR #5, X-FACTOR #6
Teased as a mysterious manipulator of the mutant investigating X-Factor, Apocalypse made his first full appearance when he was unmasked as the leader of the aptly named Alliance of Evil.
Fall of the Mutants
After X-Factor rejected his offer to join him, En Sabah Nur unleashed his fearsome Four Horsemen, who would include in their ranks the supposed-dead Warren Worthington III, now evolved from winged Angel to the bladed Archangel!
X-Cutioner’s Song
Weakened by a betrayal, Apocalypse strikes an alliance with his protege Stryfe, who is shocked to learn he is in fact a clone of Cable. When Styfe then teams with the aforementioned Mister Sinister, En Sabah Nur must in turn ally himself with Cyclops and Jean Grey, the parents of Cable/Stryfe. Told you time travel was tough!
The Age of Apocalypse
Engulfing the entire X-Men Universe, this classic crossover revealed the epic alternate reality ruled by the iron grip of Apocalypse. Facing a global genocidal nightmare, Magneto and his army of mutants square off against En Sabah Nur for the fate of humanity itself.
Powers of X / House of X / Dawn of X
You’ve heard me rave about writer Jonathan Hickman’s striking “showrunning” of the modern line of X-Men comics, but it’s time you eXperienced it yourself and discover how Apocalypse could be welcomed into the X-Men’s midst as a key member of Excalibur and the mutants’ new world order.
