‘Captain Marvel’ Soars Past $1 Billion at the Box Office
It’s the seventh Marvel Studios movie to achieve this milestone, the 38th movie in history!
After breaking box office records on its opening weekend last month, Marvel Studios' "Captain Marvel" had shattered another cinematic milestone and surpassed $1 billion at the global box office, earning $358 million domestically and $645 million internationally through April 2, 2019.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, "Captain Marvel" opened worldwide on March 8th, 2019 starring Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, Jude Law, Lashana Lynch, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, Lee Pace and Annette Bening.
Reaching $1 billion at the box office is a landmark that only 37 other movies in history have reached; "Captain Marvel" is now the 38th. It's also the first female-led Super Hero movie to reach $1 billion in global sales as well as the first movie release of 2019 to hit $1 billion.
"Captain Marvel" is the seventh Marvel Studios movie to reach this massive number, following in the footsteps of "Avengers: Infinity War" ($2.048 billion), "Avengers" ($1.519 billion), "Avengers: Age of Ultron" ($1.405 billion), "Black Panther" ($1.347 billion), "Iron Man 3" ($1.215 billion), and "Captain America: Civil War" ($1.153 billion).
