ABC News and Marvel Studios Pay Tribute to Chadwick Boseman with Special
"You will always be our king."
Following the passing of Chadwick Boseman, who starred in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther as King T’Challa, ABC aired special presentation of the film, along with an accompanying segment, A Tribute for a King.
Hosted by Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, the special highlights Boseman’s far-reaching impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe but the world as the character — and movie — quickly became a global cultural phenomenon, inspiring millions of fans around the globe.
Not only did Boseman play T’Challa in 2018's Black Panther, but he also appeared in Marvel Studio’s Captain America: Civil War, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War, and Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame. In addition to that, he portrayed a bevy of influential historical figures, including Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013), James Brown in Get On Up (2014), and as Thurgood Marshall in Marshall (2017).
Ahead of the movie, ABC shared a retrospective of Boseman’s inspiration work, which you can watch below.
Black Panther director Ryan Coogler also paid tribute to Boseman, penning an emotional statement writing, “He lived a beautiful life. And he made great art. Day after day, year after year. That was who he was. He was an epic firework display. I will tell stories about being there for some of the brilliant sparks till the end of my days.
