Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain de Caestecker Reflect on 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' FitzSimmons Romance

Last night's series finale revealed what they were fighting for!

NOTE: If you haven't watched the series finale of 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,' there are spoilers ahead!

Last night, the world bid farewell to our agents with a Spy's Goodbye as Marvel Television's first and longest running show, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., aired its series finale after seven seasons on air.

From the pilot when Coulson assembled his ragtag bunch to the team's final mission together, the team has endured A LOT together. Knowing it was their final mission, and the preservation of their timeline as well as the fate of S.H.I.E.L.D. as an organization hanging in the balance, fans all over tuned in last night to learn what they were fighting for — family.

Two agents who had been put through the ringer, and seemed destined to be star-crossed lovers, were Agent Jemma Simmons (played by Elizabeth Henstridge) and Agent Leo Fitz (played by Iain de Caestecker). Fitz and Simmons came through the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy together where they adopted the moniker "FitzSimmons," that even Coulson joked he thought they were one person based on how they were talked about. And in the series finale last night, we watched the epic conclusion of their romance play out as Simmons finally remembers what she had forced herself to forget all Season 7-long.

Marvel.com had the opportunity to visit the set during the final days of production last year and talk to Henstridge and de Caestecker, as well as the showrunners/executive producers, about the everlasting love of FitzSimmons and the story they got to play out. Watch it above!
