Everything You Need to Know For Tonight's 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 6 Return

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns for Season 6 tonight, Friday, May 10 at 8|7c on ABC, and the search for Fitz is on!

Scattered across the galaxy, our S.H.I.E.L.D. agents work to find their footing in the wake of losing Coulson in Season 5. In an extended sneak peek above, we learn that half of the team, Simmons, Piper, Davis, and led by Daisy, are on a mission to find the frozen Fitz in deep space. However, with supplies and fuel low, they make a necessary pit stop at a fueling station in hostile territory. 

The team's ship is boarded for violating space law. However, as the D'Rillian learn, one does not get in the way of Quake. While most of the D'Rillian know to fear Quake as her reputation proceeds her, what they may not have anticipated is a hardened Simmons' iciness. Simmons' orders, "Give us what we want and we'll let you live to cry about it," reveals it's been a long and unfruitful mission to find her husband.

As the Season 6 trailer revealed our agents have faced a universe full of danger, and while the team in deep space have aliens shaking in their boots and running away, our team on Earth isn't as lucky—danger has a familiar face.

Here's a quick and easy list on everything you need to know going in Season 6:

1. We pick up a year after the events of Season 5's finale.

2. Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie is now Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and home base is the Lighthouse. Throwing himself in the new role, as well as trying to learn the source of all the anomalies popping up, will have put some strain on his relationship with Yo-Yo.

3. In a final hail Mary, Coulson gives up the Centipede serum that would have saved him in order for Daisy to defeat Talbot AKA Graviton.

4. Accepting his fate, Coulson lives out his final days on Tahiti with Melinda May, giving her more time than she thought she would have.

5. While danger has a familiar face, that man played by Clark Gregg is not Phil Coulson, but a new character, Sarge, and he's got a crew.

6. Despite the devastating Season 5 finale, Fitz is still out in the universe in a frozen stasis. Simmons is determined to be reunited with her husband, along with Piper, Davis and Daisy, but it's not been an easy year for the team.

7. Sarge isn't the only foe they'll be facing this season — Izel is a mercenary from another galaxy who joins forces with our team in order to survive the perils of space, while Malachi is a mysterious assassin from a distant planet.

8. While S.H.I.E.L.D.'s brightest minds, FitzSimmons, are in space, the team recruits a brilliant Natural Sciences professor, Dr. Marcus Benson, who can help give them insight on Sarge, and how he's destroyed other worlds.

9. Deke Shaw continues to need protecting. He's not part of S.H.I.E.L.D., and busy "exploring the world" as a man who's world (universe) has opened up. Literally.

10. Clark Gregg directs the Season 6 premiere episode!
