This Week's New 'Legion' Unlocks David Haller's Family History

A new episode airs tonight, Monday, July 8 at 10 PM ET/PT on FX!

Legion

The eXtremely long-awaited episode of Legion, titled "Chapter 22," airs tonight, and we'll finally get a look into the mystery behind David Haller's parentage.

We've already covered how to understand David, we must understand his parents, his real biological family.

In a sneak peek to tonight's episode, above, we see how David's parents, Charles Xavier and Gabrielle, met, in a fashion that is reminiscent of how David and Syd met.

A young Charles expresses concern to Gabrielle that he passes on his mutant gene to David and ends up like him, in which his young wife responds, would you rather he end up like her.

Despite reeling from his last interactions with Syd, David is still committed to go back in time and fix the moment when his life was "ruined." With the help of Cary, he's able to magnify the scope of Switch's time traveling abilities and go back further if tonight's sneak peek is any indication.

As showrunner and executive producer Noah Hawley shared with us, "David is not going to be able to move on as a character until he can come to terms with his history and his lineage and the decisions his parents made."

"Of course, when your parents give you up for adoption, there’s a real sense that either you weren’t good enough or why couldn’t they love you, that sort of thing," continued Hawley. "The truth of it had nothing to do with if they loved him or not, it was for his safety. So hopefully, if you can get David to a point where he understands his origin story, he will be a healthier person."

Get a look into David's family history with a brand new episode tonight, Monday, July 8, at 10 PM ET/PT on FX!
