Virtually nothing is known of the past of the man known only as Ape before he joined the underground community of mutants known as the Morlocks who lived in "The Alley", a huge tunnel located beneath Manhattan. Ape was amongst the few Morlocks that managed to escape the massacre of their community by the superhuman team of assassins known as the Marauders.
Ape was later captured by the subversive organization known as Weapon X and imprisoned in the mutant concentration camp named "Neverland". He was summarily executed after he was deemed of no value to the Project.
