Deathstroke had heard that the Red Skull was searching for a new Chief Operative for group the Skeleton Crew to replace Crossbones. Mother Night gathered a group of men qualified to as replacements. In order to become the next Chief Operative, the group of men would have to combat each other to the death. Deathstroke battled the Mangler and Cutthroat for the prize and during the battle was killed.
