Elaine Banner Walters marries county Sheriff Morris Walters and together they have a daughter, Jennifer Walters. Jen would eventually become the Gamma-powered lawyer and Super Hero She-Hulk, thanks to Elaine’s nephew Bruce Banner, AKA the Hulk.

Elaine is closest to her husband and daughter. She also has siblings, Susan Banner-Drake and Dr. Brian Banner, father to Bruce. She cries after her brother Brian murders his wife Rebecca.
End of the Line
The enemy in Elaine’s life turns out to be her last in the form of a drunk driver who runs her off the road.
A Life Lived and Loved
During Jen’s childhood, Elaine supported her daughter’s dreams of becoming a dancer. While en route to one of Jen's dance recitals, Elaine's car collided head-on with another vehicle. Officially, the crash was blamed on the other driver’s drunkenness, but Sheriff Walters eventually learned that it had been an attempt on his life arranged by local mob boss Nick Trask. After Elaine’s death, both Jen and her father retreated into obsessions with law and justice; Morris poured himself into his work while Jen studied law, driving herself to reach the top.
Though gone, Elaine is later seen in a vision by Jen while she is near death. Connecting at a mall, Jen asked her mother if she was waiting for her but Elaine claimed it was coincidence and that she was only there to purchase Elvis’ new album. They discussed her love life and Elaine was a supportive listener, until she realized that her daughter hadn’t had her Judgement Day with Mistress Death. Overcome with worry, Elaine then noticed that Jen was fading but actually in the process of returning to the land of the living. Jen awoke on her Earthly plane, having left her mother behind.
