G-Type is a member of the Imperial Guard, a multi-ethnic group of super-powered alien beings who act as enforcers of the laws of the Shi'ar Empire. Part of the division of the Imperial Guard known as the Superguardians, the intensely religious G-Type was stationed aboard a Shi'ar superdestroyer in orbit around the planet Earth during the Guard's first strike on the team of superhuman mutant adventurers known as the X-Men in an effort to cleanse their world of mutants. The attack was ordered by the Empress Lilandra, who was under the mental control of Charles Xavier's mutant twin sister Cassandra Nova at the time.
G-Type was charged by his telepathically-possessed Empress with atmospherically cremating two members of the X-Men, Cyclops and Xorn, who had been captured by the Guard. However, Xorn was able to use his abilities to render G-Type unconscious and the pair escaped. G-Type quickly recovered, however, and in the ensuing clash he was discorporated by Xorn. It is unknown whether G-Type survived his discorporation, or the subsequent self-destruction of the Shi'ar superdestroyer.
