Bobby Drake discovered his mutant power to create ice while in his early teens, yet kept his condition hidden from everyone but his parents. When the Mutant-Human War began, Bobby's father turned him in to the authorities, figuring it would be safer for him to be in captivity than to be a renegade mutant. Fortunately, while in captivity, Bobby was freed by Apocalypse during the raid of the Alamo Mutant Camp. Feeling abandoned by his parents and believing himself to be an outcast, Bobby jumped at the chance to become a member of Apocalypse's Horsemen. Like all Horsemen, his mutant abilities were amplified by Apocalypse's technology.
After Magneto gave Apocalypse greenlight to invade Wakanda to crush the main player of the world resistance Black Panther. Apocalypse's Horseman's Iceman, Angel and Nightcrawler volunteered to accompany him. Just before Apocalypse arrived to Wakanda he was attacked by Storm, Sunfire and Namor. Iceman immediatly stepped to help his master who was totally out numbered and managed to disract the others so that Apocalypse himself could attack Black Panther's castle. When he managed to broke in the castle he was conforted by Black Bolt who said just one syllable and blowed Apocalypse out of Wakanda. It's not sure if Apocalypse survived the attack or what happened to Iceman after this confortation.
